Trump’s Taxes Show Chronic Losses and Years of Income Tax Avoidance

Donald J. Trump paid $750 in federal income taxes the year he won the presidency. In his first year in the White House, he paid another $750.

He had paid no income taxes at all in 10 of the previous 15 years — largely because he reported losing much more money than he made.

As the president wages a re-election campaign that polls say he is in danger of losing, his finances are under stress, beset by losses and hundreds of millions of dollars in debt coming due that he has personally guaranteed. Also hanging over him is a decade-long audit battle with the Internal Revenue Service over the legitimacy of a $72.9 million tax refund that he claimed, and received, after declaring huge losses. An adverse ruling could cost him more than $100 million.

18 Revelations From a Trove of Trump Tax Records

Mr. Trump has paid no federal income taxes for much of the past two decades.
In addition to the 11 years in which he paid no taxes during the 18 years examined by The Times, he paid only $750 in each of the two most recent years — 2016 and 2017.
[...]

His tax avoidance also sets him apart from past presidents.
Mr. Trump may be the wealthiest U.S. president in history. Yet he has often paid less in taxes than other recent presidents. Barack Obama and George W. Bush each regularly paid more than $100,000 a year — and sometimes much more — in federal income taxes while in office.

Mr. Trump, by contrast, is running a federal government to which he has contributed almost no income tax revenue in many years.

A large refund has been crucial to his tax avoidance.
Mr. Trump did face large tax bills after the initial success of “The Apprentice” television show, but he erased most of these tax payments through a refund. Combined, Mr. Trump initially paid almost $95 million in federal income taxes over the 18 years. He later managed to recoup most of that money, with interest, by applying for and receiving a $72.9 million tax refund, starting in 2010.

The refund reduced his total federal income tax bill between 2000 and 2017 to an annual average of $1.4 million. By comparison, the average American in the top .001 percent of earners paid about $25 million in federal income taxes each year over the same span.

The $72.9 million refund has since become the subject of a long-running battle with the I.R.S.

[...]

The presidency has helped his business.
Since he became a leading presidential candidate, he has received large amounts of money from lobbyists, politicians and foreign officials who pay to stay at his properties or join his clubs. The Times investigation puts precise numbers on this spending for the first time.

A surge of new members at the Mar-a-Lago club in Florida gave him an additional $5 million a year from the business since 2015. The Billy Graham Evangelistic Association paid at least $397,602 in 2017 to the Washington hotel, where it held at least one event during its World Summit in Defense of Persecuted Christians.

In his first two years in the White House, Mr. Trump received millions of dollars from projects in foreign countries, including $3 million from the Philippines, $2.3 million from India and $1 million from Turkey.

But the presidency has not resolved his core financial problem: Many of his businesses continue to lose money.
With “The Apprentice” revenue declining, Mr. Trump has absorbed the losses partly through one-time financial moves that may not be available to him again.

In 2012, he took out a $100 million mortgage on the commercial space in Trump Tower. He has also sold hundreds of millions worth of stock and bonds. But his financial records indicate that he may have as little as $873,000 left to sell.

He will soon face several major bills that could put further pressure on his finances.
He appears to have paid off none of the principal of the Trump Tower mortgage, and the full $100 million comes due in 2022. And if he loses his dispute with the I.R.S. over the 2010 refund, he could owe the government more than $100 million (including interest on the original amount).

He is personally on the hook for some of these bills.

In the 1990s, Mr. Trump nearly ruined himself by personally guaranteeing hundreds of millions of dollars in loans, and he has since said that he regretted doing so. But he has taken the same step again, his tax records show. He appears to be responsible for loans totaling $421 million, most of which is coming due within four years.

Your counterpoint is extraordinarily convincing. Thank you for your input.

Trump claimed on Sunday night that he “paid a lot of tax.” Great, release your tax returns like presidents have done for the past 50 years so we can all see the “best tax returns ever” and judge for ourselves.
Polls in 2016 said Trump was losing big time. He won by a huge margin even with all the vote fraud.
No one, and I mean, No one releases their tax info to the public whilst in the middle of an audit, which is occurring now as we speak.

If you need any explanation on Bernie Sanders, then congrats, you have scaled new heights of stupidity.

No one, and I mean, No one releases their tax info to the public whilst in the middle of an audit, which is occurring now as we speak.

Your argument is that if Trump were not in the midst of an IRS audit, then he would be free to release his tax returns, is that correct? If no audit, then the returns that Trump actually released to the public would be vastly different than the ones the New York Times are using. Are you suggesting that the NYT is using fabricated tax returns as their source....different tax returns than were filed with the IRS? If this is the case, then Trump would easily win a libel suit and likely bankrupt the NYT.

Trump went even further than other uber-rich to shrink taxes

U.S. tax law has long been kind to big real estate developers. It allows them myriad legal loopholes and breaks that can significantly shrink their tax bills. The law became even more beneficial to them after Trump’s Republican allies in Congress pushed through his $1.5 trillion tax overhaul, which took effect in 2018.

The Times reviewed Trump’s tax returns for 2000 through 2017, so its report didn’t capture the impact of the 2018 law. But Martin Sullivan, chief economist at Tax Analysts, said, “It is much easier now for a real estate developer to avoid taxes than it was five years ago.”

Even before the 2018 law, developers could claim losses more quickly and easily than other businesses. They can also more easily delay or avoid reporting profits to the Internal Revenue Service. Even if they fall behind on their debts, they face fewer tax penalties than other investors do as long as their creditors forgive their debts.

Trump took full advantage of those tax breaks after failing to handle debts on his failing Atlantic City casinos in the 1990s and early 2000s. Even so, experts say it’s unclear whether all his actions were permissible.

“There are a lot of things that Trump has done that may exceed what is allowed by the law,” Wamhoff said.

Wamhoff noted that the IRS has raised questions about some of Trump’s claims — in particular, a whopping $72.9 million federal tax refund that he sought and received, as well as “business deductions for expenses that really look like personal expenses.”

The Trump tax scandal is an indictment of the president — and the system
Donald Trump’s tax scheme and the system that let him get away with it for so long.

The US tax system is often preferential to higher-income individuals and businesses and has become increasingly so in recent years. The $1.5 trillion tax cut bill Trump signed into law in 2017 disproportionately benefited corporations and the wealthy, including the types of businesses the president often deals in. And the CARES Act, the stimulus bill passed in March to help boost the economy amid the pandemic, also had in it many tax breaks to help the rich. The country’s richest families pay a lower tax rate than much of the middle class.

“The US system has a lot of loopholes that white, wealthy Americans benefit from,” said Dorothy Brown, a law professor at Emory University.

Real estate, in particular, is a tax-favored industry, meaning people like Trump get all sorts of deductions and perks. Robert Willens, a New York tax analyst and former managing director at Lehman Brothers, said in an email that he doesn’t think the president’s situation is “markedly different” from that of other real estate professionals on a number of fronts, such as conducting business through “pass-through entities” and blurring lines between what counts as a business expense and what’s a nondeductible personal expense, which sometimes isn’t an easy distinction. (A lunch with a client can be part business, part personal.)

“All in all, although the magnitude of the numbers involved here is substantial, it’s difficult to say that, at the end of the day, his situation is unprecedented or one not commonly encountered by many real estate professionals,” he said.

Rich people and businesses also have the benefit of having the funds to spend on lawyers and accountants to finagle their way out of taxes.

“If you’re a working person and you’re as unscrupulous as Donald Trump, you don’t have those same avenues for avoiding taxes as you do if you’re a wealthy business owner,” said Seth Hanlon, a senior fellow at the Center for American Progress. “Only people that are wealthy have expensive lawyers and accountants and own their businesses can do these things.”

IRS Chief Makes More Than $100,000 Per Year Off Trump Property, Documents Show

The commissioner of the IRS—who is responsible for releasing President Trump's tax returns to Congress—owns two rental properties at the Trump International Waikiki that he profits off of while in office, according to new documents obtained by a watchdog group in Washington, raising new questions about his withholding of Trump’s tax returns as the president goes to court to keep them hidden.

Commissioner Charles Rettig’s personal financial disclosures for the past two years, analyzed by the Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, show that the IRS commissioner earns $100,000-200,000 per year from his properties at the Trump-branded Hawaii resort, which he purchased in 2006 before the hotel officially opened.

What?

Neither those who support Biden or the trump cult can in all honesty claim a victory. I was disappointed by Bidens performance but I in no way changed my mind about Trump.

Trump will still lose the election. He will still claim victory on election night, but the courts will still allow the counting of absentee balots that will cost trump the election. Nothing your wannabe authoritarian dictator will be able to do to stop it. Things will only get worse for the cult from here out.

How the CIA controls the Media Narrative!

TruthTalkNetwork

“We are grateful to the Washington Post, The New York Times, Time Magazine and other great publications whose directors have attended our meetings and respected their promises of discretion for almost forty years. It would have been impossible for us to develop our plan for the world if we had been subjected to the lights of publicity during those years. But, the world is now more sophisticated and prepared to march towards a world government. The supranational sovereignty of an intellectual elite and world bankers is surely preferable to the national auto-determination practiced in past centuries.”

Sun Tzu once said “All War is Deception” in our post-truth world the media has played a major role in covering up the truth about what really occurs in the almost constant wars of aggression. The Military-industrial-media/politico-media complex truly does have a stranglehold on what can and cannot be said in the public discourse. Using control methods going back to the days of the propaganda of Edward Bernays the bankers who rule America are able to keep the narrative to their benefit. Often the media is used to propagate these false “humanitarian” wars.

In the 70s a detailed discussion of the CIA’s relation with the news media was published on April 1976. The report covered the agencies ties with both foreign and domestic news media. The following is taken from page 455 on the Church Committee Final Report on Foreign and Military
Intelligence, it stated: “The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda. These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets.”

It has been revealed that “From June 1999 to March 2000, CNN employed military specialists in ‘psychological operations’ (Psyops) in their Southeast TV bureau and CNN radio division.” and that “Psyops also had team members working at National Public Radio (NPR).” when one reviews the constant Russophobic propaganda being put out by the various Western news outlets, it becomes quite apparent who really makes the narrative for Western news outlets.

The late Udo Ulfkotte was a journalist who revealed the truth about NATO influence over the Western media he spoke of how NATO propaganda had continuously pushed for war against Russia, he spoke of how he was supported by the CIA to write pro-American propaganda. Udo Ulfkotte was an honest man and was tired of the bad journalist standards and the American propaganda. Udo Ulfkotte wrote about this in a book called Journalists for Hire: How the CIA Buys the News (I highly suggest the reader/and or genuine researcher viewing this article buy that book).

Journalist Carl Bernstein stated that “The CIA’s use of the American news media has been much more extensive than Agency officials have acknowledged publicly or in closed sessions with members of Congress.” Reporters were even used as informants and spies, giving the locations of plane movements and information on infustrucutre. Carl Bernstein’s research also revealed that some journalists were sent to countries to do stories at the request of the CIA. Bernstein also stated that “In many instances, CIA documents show, journalists were engaged to perform tasks for the CIA with the consent of the managements of America’s leading news organizations.”

A prime example of how the CIA spreads propaganda is CNN, turn on CNN and you will see hours upon hours of Globalist and Corporate propaganda. CNN will give bias coverage on Syria, Russia, Venezuela, and will constantly attack President Trump with numerous accusations, one of CNN’s “journalists” Anderson Cooper admitted to having worked with the CIA. This is nothing new to CNN since they have been lying since their creation, especially since the first Gulf War

During the Yugoslav Wars it was CNN who refused to cover suffering Serbs and portrayed them as war criminals, while constantly humanizing the Albanian factions. CNN glorified Bill Clinton’s war of aggression against Serbia including the American bombing of Yugoslavian infrastructure and killing of civillians. The CNN coverage of Yugoslavia was one-sided and biased, it was consistently pro-NATO and anti-Serb.

CNN’s relation with intelligence agencies is so great that In one case, CNN was given pre-warnings two days before NATO bombed the Serbian television station in Belgrade, in what seemed to be an attempted assassination on the Serbian information minister Aleksander Vucic. Thankfully Vucic was late and was able to avoid death and the NATO missiles that would later slam into the building, however a young assistant working at the building was not so lucky. CNN to this day claims it was a coincidence, claiming that their entertainment department did not know of the news departments instructions to leave the Belgrade building.

The matrix of the mainstream media’s information control can be broken. More and more Americans are tired of being told lies by the mainstream media. These patriotic Americans are moving to the Alternative media and this launching a serious backlash against the ratings of the globalist owned media networks like CNN. Already the mainstream New York times was forced to retract disinfo stories accusing the Russians dis-crediting the Anti-Russian propaganda constantly being put out by the mainstream media. This is good news, one can only pray and hope that God’s will shall be against the mainstream media.
