Who likes fishing?

Man I tell you what! I decided to give my boat a total refresh and convert from that old dirty carpet to some nice new marine vinyl and redo some of the old metal trim in aluminum diamond plate and a few other cosmetic upgrades.

Well some months later it has turned into a full on restoration. I'm thankfully coming down to the end. But..... one thing I learned yesterday was I had no fucking idea what I was doing when it came to wrapping and folding vinyl neatly lol. I started on two smaller hatches and man oh man it looked like pure hammered dogshit when I was done :( I spent all last night and even a few hours this morning reading and watching videos on vinyl installation and corner wrapping. I practiced my wrapping skills with some left over vinyl and some old plywood I had laying around and after a few attempts I think I got it down pat now! I dont know what I was thinking, I cant even wrap a fucking present without it looking like a 3rd grader got a hold of it but somehow I was going to magically get the swing of wrapping and folding an even less forgiving material on something that I require to be absolutely perfect when I'm done!?!?! LoL Ok ;) I'm a master machinist with exceptional mathematics capabilities who can solve complex issues in my head without the use of a pen paper and calculator and precision machine some of the most unforgiving metals the world has to offer but Vinyl yes it was Vinyl that was where I had met my match lol

Problem is since this is my pride and joy boat that my grandfather left me that my happiest memories revolve around I want everything to be perfect as can be with no half assed corner cuts. With that perfection mentality in mind I allowed this project to balloon well over budget but by god this is gonna be one of the nicest 1990 model boats anyone has ever seen when I get done ;)

I should have took a picture of the first attempt yesterday to show just how far I came in 24hrs haha. But this is worlds better than what I had to show for my efforts yesterday!

This is some tedious shit but so far so good and happy with how it's looking. Hopefully I get some good weather in the weeks coming up so I can spray the new paint after the floor is down. I figure itll be more prudent to spray after the flooring and storage hatches are done that way I dont fuck the paint up doing it after I spray. Itll be no big deal to cover up the new floor.

Looking good!! I like working on my boat almost as much as I like using it. It’s like my man cave

No,it came from the factory with it in 2007.I repowered it 2 years ago with a Suzuki 4 stroke engine, cut my fuel bill in half.
I had a 1991 21ft sea pro that I sold a few years ago. I miss having that thing when the water is rough but other than that I dont really have much regrets downsizing. It was a much deeper hulled boat than what Sea Pro started putting out years later which was great in big water but a pain in the ass in the wind since the higher sides just acted like a wind sail.

Funny you guys mention this... I bought a fish attractant spray a few years ago that I've used here and there, I have to say.. I tend to get more hits when I use it. I caught a 36” striper with it a few years ago off the surf in VA. If I had to describe the smell of it, it's kind of a garlicky WD-40. I like the jello idea too, you could put some garlic right into the jello I guess. Never used hot dogs but I think I'll try that, the biggest problem I've had with surf fishing is keeping the bait on long enough for a fish to strike.. the crabs are relentless.
We catch the crabs first, pull off the claws, hook them in the back corner by that flipper leg, and toss them to the bottom. We have some very large Redfish and Drum around here. My favorite is to just freeline a 6to 8 inch finger mullet wherever he want to go. Big seatrout and Snook can't resist.

Hopefully I can get back to this soon. I usually go hardcore from Halloween until Mid May. With this colder weather upon us here in the south that Halloween date is actually pushing it considering the night time topwater fishing for stripers has already begun.

Thanksgiving is flounder time. Rigged the Jon boat with some sic LEDS. We get up under the Docks where Commercial motor giggers can't go. They are not all door mats... favorite is following finger creeks to the shallows. Snook ZigZag like crazy, pushed a few hundred Reds up into shallows before they turned and went under boat. Sounded like being nailed by ball pen hammers as they bounced of bottom.
