Fuck. Old man supps??

There are plenty of studies done on transdermal/topical magnesium. You are 100% correct that magnesium is not magnesium and all magnesium is not equal.

You can look up some of my previous posts regarding topical magnesium and the benefits of using topical versus oral.
Cool bro! Thanks for responding. I've been following Jerry Brainerd and his magnesium segment really helped me to see how important it is and how little we actually get even when supplementing because of the carrier. Ill dig around your archives.

You find the topic of topical magnesium very interesting and discover why topical is far superior form of taking. I would also suggest using triple filtered magnesium as it feels the best on skin.

Can you point me to a product that would be something of the quality and type you use?

Late response here, but it depends on the carrier. If its mag citrate its practically useless orally. .Malate is not terrible with glycinate being the most orally available. Ive never heard of tranadermal mag supplements. Would be interested in seeing a study or hearing some anecdotes if anyone has any?

This is incorrect Citrate along with Glycinate are some of the best absorbed in the stomach. It's oxide that is complete trash. The issue is trying to get enough elemental magnesium ie. a 500mg of bsyglicinate typically has 50mg elemental mag.

Perhaps I got them mixed up then. My misconception was probably reinforced by the fact that you can get giant bottles of mag citrate at Walmart for dirt cheap and the glycinate isn't even on the shelves and is significantly more expensive bottle for bottle when I compared them.

Pretty fascinating subject to be honest. I feel like I recover much better from my splits since I have been supplementing and I sleep much more soundly and feel refreshed even with 5 hours. I was clearly deficient and depleted.

Definitely, magnesium has been shown to help with some mental issues as well, something crazy like 70% of the population is deficient? I currently have Glycinate on hand and I'm gonna push it so I'm getting 400mg elemental and see how it helps. My caps are 500mg glycinate/50mg elemental magnesium. Was only taking 2000mg of mag glycinate daily which is 200mg elemental.

Yeah, mineral depletion in soil produced foods and heavily processed foods among other things seem to really play into the large deficit in western culture.
I am currently titrating up to 2000mg glycinate myself. I just started so I am at 500mg now and plan to add 500 every week until I reach 2000 to make sure I tolerate it well. But the 500mg I take at night has already made a noticeable difference.

Albeit with a little stomach and acid reflux type symptom that is irritating. I take the bulk of my supplements before bed so they can be allocated and utilized overnight to rebuild and repair in isolation. So I am used to the mass I take and this symptom wasn't present prior to taking it. Although, I did add NAC 1000mg at the same time too. Any stomach discomfort or reflux for you?

Thats pretty strange as I've read a couple guys on here using magnesium to ABATE acid reflux not cause it. I also take NAC afaik neither of these should give you any stomach discomfort. I have no problem just jumping to 2000mg of glycinate without shitting my pants etc. That's more something Citrate is known for.

Hmmm...maybe its because they are a recent addition to my supp stack and my body is just getting used to processing them.
Or, more likely, my body can do just fine taking in my 14 pill stack and just cant handle the extra mag and nac without it overloading my stomach and causing reflux. 14 is fine - 16 is too much at once sorta thing.
It was a little better last night (night #3 since adding them) but still noticeable heartburn feeling.

As to the titration, yeah i was scared I'd wake up and projectile shit if I jumped straight to 2000mg. Hahaa. Once I work out why this reflux is happening ill jump to 1500 to be sure all is well and go from there.

Glycinate shouldn't give you shitting problems like banging 2000mg of Citrate would lol. I may be waay off but I think it was @Silentlemon1011 ? that may have commented on Magnesium helping with acid reflux not making it worse.

I take a pretty fat stack but I split it into two separate times a day

NAC x 2
Magnesium x 4
Curcumin x2
Citrus Bergamot x 2
like 6 extra strength fish oil
Zinc x 2
TUDCA x 2
Selenium x 1
Taurine x 2
Tyrosine x 2
5-htp x 2
B complex
5000iu Vitamin D/K2

So I'm no stranger to the 80 year old man geriatic pill stack. Maybe just super OCD about covering my bases health wise.

I will say this about the differences

I use Magnesium Glycinate for daily health.

I use the Citrate at the same dosages daily, I'll be having 4 water shots a day.

I only use Citeate for acid reflux emergencies with half a bottle of Pepto and 3 acid reflux pills lol

That's some savage AR if you need to combine all three of those, I remember an old friend would literally spit up stomach acid if it was bad into the sink. Talk about back for the mouth/esophagus.

I have it really bad brother,
Um missing my esophageal sphincter.
So when the acid bubbles up, it can go all the way into my lungs if I dont get it under control quickly.

Nothinf ruins a day like acid burning in your lungs and reflux to ruin your day lmfao
