Underground Gyms

With more lockdowns impending, these underground speakeasy gyms will be the only other place to go train unless you can afford to splash out for home gym equipment which still is quite scarce.

I feel for all you guys who are in shitty states that are still on lockdown. These owners have to do what they have to to survive. I’m lucky. Gyms here have been open since June, and one of my gyms doesn’t require masks beyond the front lobby.

Still shutdown in my county. I've been going in the mornings before work, as I travel to other counties for work.
Hope those other counties don't close down the gyms...otherwise there's gonna be a lot of very angry gymrats LOL. If people can stay away when feeling sick or keeping the equipment clean before and after use as well as washing hands often then the risk should be low of catching this.

So far NH has been lucky but not sure how long that luck will last as cases are starting to rise in the county I am in. I work from home 100% and my main gym is 4 miles away...

Of the 3 gyms I’m a member of none have reported any kind of outbreak, or even attempted to do contact tracing. Either everyone has already had covid, or it doesn’t spread as easily when people keep sanitation in mind.

There will not be more lockdowns. Maybe tightening restrictions but lockdowns no. Not without significant risk of violence.

If the restrictions bring about closing gyms then yes that will become a problem for sure.

I wouldn't expect the state governments to let go of the power they grabbed with the lock downs. And since power is useless unless exercised, I definitely expect similar lock downs in the future. It doesn't have to be COVID, either. Any contrived emergency will do.

Before Covid I rarely had more than 1 or 2 people work out with my in my garage. Soon after the lockdowns I would routinely have 10 people in the garage and 5 waiting outside to get in. By August, everyone around here had access to private gyms, or gyms that were not enforcing the rules.

Government can make rules all day long, I am not allowed to speed on the way to the store either...

Soon you may see a real long line to your garage! You must have a huge garage to have 10 people inside.

A future pandemic will surely do this.

Agreed.

I'm lucky. My gym put a sing on the door saying "closed to the public" and just didnt lock the door. He sanitizes about twice a week.. 1 single person who goes to that gym, has the virus right now. That's the only one that I've heard of.

Hopefully that person has notified the owner of that fact so that he can protect the other members and alert them. This way things be on the level.

My home gym is pretty much ready for visitors. It's already starting to overflow the room I made and occupy my shop. But I spend less than 5 hours a week in there, even when my old gym was locked down.

All the regulars in my old gym have my number and know they are welcome. The fridge is full of water and beer. I wonder which will go first..
