Why are some people so obsessed and aroused with wanting "free healthcare". Its not fee, taxes pay for it. It is only free to the welfare class of people who do not work. So if you work and are for "free" (really government run) healthcare, your happy paying for your own healthcare, and the healthcare of everyone who doesn't work? Your happy with. less freedom and a less efficient system? The IRS, mother vehicle administration, social security, what government run entity isn't a complete disaster? When has the government ever been more efficient than a private market?

I have never had a problem with my healthcare, im more than happy with it. I pay a co-pay, see a specialist when I need one, never wait in line. Sometimes I get a bill, since im a productive member of society that works I have some money saved, so I pay it. What is so hard about this?

Why do we glorify the helalth care of other countries when they are not better than ours? I don't even think communist care would work in america because there are way more poor unproductive people here (who wont pay in but will abuse it) and way more unhealthy people because we have it so easy we are one of the fattest countries in the world.

The middle class are the ones who gets screwed. The rich can afford it, the poor dont need to pay for it, but the middle class loses 15-25% of their salary to it.

Govt should supply infrastructure and that is about it. Less govt interference the better. Now infrastructure is very broad, more than just roads haha!, but govt really should enhance the freedom of a people by providing structure. They should not restrict it. This past year govt has been very intrusive and restrictive to the point Americans are afraid their govt will take over their lives and take away jobs, lockdowns, picking and choosing who works amd who doesn’t and along with it essentially who is poor and dies, and who gets to live and prosper, etc That should not be something Americans worry about.

I am lucky to have a private employer plan and pay $100 a month for it with $500 deductible and max $6000 out of pocket for major treatments/surgery.

Same here as I earn $85K a year I don't need the government's help for healthcare even though I work for a hospital.

Lol no special habits here. Just been paying off a lot of debt and just about done with that. I am within 10 years of retiring and don't need all the debt baggage lol.

Though I agree, think of it like this. Taxes pay for police officers and such, I’m sure we could find a way to pay doctors with taxes and not charge anyone for health care. Now, if my taxes were raised by this I would not be for it. As jJjburton stated the middle class get screwed on things like this, but if they found a way to not increase taxes and pay doctors I’d be all for it.
I do think the non working class gets coddled too much though. I’ve actually needed government help in the past and didn’t receive any yet my city is full of people just taking advantage and getting all types of free shit. The system is fucked and I’m sure there’s a way they could fix it and change the health care system in our favor.

As a Canadian, free health care is all I know.
Yes we pay higher tax. We’re a socialist country. I would much rather this as oppose to a hospital visit potentially bankrupting me and draining my accounts. We’re used to having slightly higher taxes so we don’t really notice it

Right. If you visit a hospital in America it’s like they just make up numbers when they charge you for things. The cost is outrageous. Plus, if you have to pay for your healthcare plan, why not just pay higher taxes instead? I get people don’t want to pay for the people who don’t do shit and want everything for free but those people typically have Medicaid anyway which is the same thing. There’s really no way around it

Here is a big difference, its obviously going to be quite dependant on many factors...including area etc.
That being said.
Doc thought my Mom had a possible brain tumor.... tried to schedule an MRI
4 ish months wait (Cant remember , this was many years ago)
My brother said "Fuck this shit, she could be dead by then if the docs diagnosis is correct"
Got her in a vehicle, drove to the good ol U.S of A.
MRI, that fucking day, drove back and handed it to the doc.

Because the reality is, I'm paying for others as well.
Which I'm okay with, I believe we need to help our fellow Canadians... but at least give me some decent healthcare lol.

I have a few doctor friends around Toronto, they've told me they get SNAPPED on by OHIP if they take more than 10 mins with a patient, or denied pay if they get bloodwork that an Administrator thinks is "unnecessary"
Ontario is #1 right now for online PAID doctor appointments (Not covered by OHIP), since our normal doctors are being crushed by administration

A lot of Americans would rather pay that much too, but it's not the norm. HSA's where you're paying everything out of pocket until you hit your deductible is much more common, in my experience. That can be +$6000 per family member... It's basically a stop loss for a worst case scenario but most employees don't really have a choice unless they are working for an employer that's willing to pay the price for top shelf insurance plans, but a lot of them can't afford it either.

I am not a fan at all of our current healthcare system, it's poor to say the least. I am not a big fan of government health either but, my gf is from Europe and there are some clear benefits to it... Her family cringes when they hear of some of the costs for RX's and routine vists we have. I've always assumed they would have to die a slow death waiting to see a doctor but it's actually incredibly efficient where they live. Despite any shortcomings, most government healthcare recipients are pretty proud of their system from what I've witnessed.

Don't even get me started on healthcare with regard to worker's compensation - if you want to see how corrupt the american healthcare system is from an employer's POV.

Guys srsly even if health national service has its flaws you can't even compare it to private health care in America. I mean it's fucking outrageous the cost for anything in USA. You enter in a hospital for the most little shit and come out with a 25k bills for getting an IV and maybe 4 hours on a bed.

Read an article few weeks ago of an Italian guy that was in the USA for work and got the covid. So he got hospitalised and got something like 100k bills... He had insurance so he didn't have to pay for it but still... The first thing they asked him before even starting to treat him was: who's gonna pay for it?

Yeah there are pros and cons to everything but even tho I can afford my own medical expenses and I use private clinic for myself and my wife because they are faster, in my country health care is "free" and I would be scared on living in a place where it's not.
