How is this possible?

Long story so here's the short of it.
Was on 20mg of testosterone gel everyday for trt. This put my TT at 792.
With my health issues the endocrinologist thought this was to high. He switched me to12.5 mgs everyday in hopes of my TT coming back in the 600's.
Well i just got a call from the doctor and my TT came back at 1272!!! WTF?
How can this be possible?

Same gel, same location of application, same time between application and testing?

Same brand of testosterone gel. Still applying it to my shoulders and 4 months in between

Everything is exactly the same. No differences at all. My only guess is lab error. It just makes no sense.

That is weird. I have no experience with gels, so I'm not really sure.

Bizarre, I am in the same boat as @Test_Subject

I have used gels (though only for 6 months before switching to injectable TRT) but didn't really see much variation in that time.
