Higher progressive overload whilst enhanced?

Would one keep adding their regular natty progression on the bar whilst while enhanced (basic test) or bump it up even more each time? Is there a way to dial it in to meet a medium ground with your tendons? Cheers gents.

I wouldn't go past 10% above where your max is normally. I tore my pectoral because I my bench blew up so quickly. This was a while ago.

Yeah that would feel comfortable for me I think. Before I studied this stuff a bit more I really used to think folks could put their lifts up over 100 kgs in 10 weeks lol. Sorry to hear about that pec my g hope all is back to the norm again..

Test does decrease collagen synthesis. (1, 2). Due to that, when on cycle, your tendons/ligaments can have a hard time recovering compared to when at a normal T level. This can increase risk of injury, like @CompoundLifts31 said, you can feel okay, like you're just a lifting god all the sudden, but then SNAP. You tear some connective tissue (or even tear/strain the muscle itself like in his case) and you are NOT a happy camper and those gains go bye bye for a good while.

There are other AAS that can increase collagen synthesis and offset the effect of testosterone in this regard, like Anavar (very significant increase) and nandrolone (NPP/Deca, also a significant increase). Anavar is by far the most proven compound around for increasing collagen biomarkers, but nandrolone also has some good studies behind it, just not nearly as many as Anavar, which literally has dozens upon dozens of studies around wound healing for burns and surgeries. Study 1 linked above which demonstrated that testosterone decreased procollagen mRNA levels also showed that Winstrol increased collagen synthesis

Some say EQ increases collagen synthesis, they always say by 350%, citing a poorly conducted rat study from 2005. IMO this is unproven broscience and wishful thinking. It is possible that boldenone will increase collagen synthesis, but the science is not in on it. There's no reason the science ever will be in on it either, as boldenone is not approved for use in humans at all. I would not assume that it increases collagen synthesis at all--stick to proven compounds, preferably Anavar.

HGH also increases collagen pretty significantly (3), but comes with downsides of increased risk of hyperglycemia, so blood sugar must be managed carefully.

Note: Nandrolone should never be used by someone who is not on TRT/blasting and cruising. It causes long-term (many many months, up to 18 months) suppression of the HPTA axis and as such will decrease your test levels pretty significantly for a long time.

I know you're on a basic test cycle, but just for other readers, I think the best thing to do if you're concerned about injury is to add in Anavar partway through/at the end of your cycle. Adding orals in at the beginning can cause strength to explode too much too fast, increasing the risk of injury. This is also why people who are not very experienced lifters should not do steroids, not only is it unnecessary as they're nowhere near their genetic potential, but it increases the risk of injury even further.

Thanks for the thought out response chief.. lots of info I hadn't previously run into. I haven't started my cycle yet if you wanna know. I'd really love to add in these extra things but honestly just test and PCT is spooky enough to play alone to a newbie ya know? I guess this is something to look into the next time and make some steady progressions with my first go around.

I don't really train much different honestly. If the strength is there I'll bump up the weights. But I plan my training a month in advance typically, so it's not like I'm maxing out on the big 3 every week and constantly increasing the weight. I think as long as you manage your general fatigue levels and use good form you don't really have to worry about injuries very much.

I totally understand. For your first cycle, definitely test only is PLENTY! I'm not saying that you should add in other compounds at this time, just was providing the information for the future. As far as what you should do, IMO you should just run your test, do your PCT, and lift hard/eat right. Just manage your lifting properly, don't increase your lifts/volume too fast. Following a lifting program where you make notes of how much weight/reps you did on a given lift is really helpful here because you can see how much you lifted over time. You can evaluate your past lifts and see, "Hey, 3 weeks ago I was benching 250, now I am benching 325. I should probably be a little more conservative/careful to avoid potential injury." That's an extreme example, but you get the point.
