I use a 16, just remove the plunger and drain it into a pint mason jar. [emoji2369]I know there is at least 1 guy here who does it. I looked into it and realized it was a 16ga needle that you have to use and thought better of it. Would love to hear from anyone else who had the sack to do this one. Damn- well I guess the 18 should work but I know they recommend 16–17ga- you’re not actually donating it so I guess it doesn’t matter if the red blood cells get damaged. Should be large enough to get them through though. Just seems like this requires a certain tecnigue as to not blow out the vein or whatever you are piercing. How many mls did you guys dump?I've done it. I used an 18ga though, which worked completely fine... I guess a 16 would have gone a bit faster but honestly the 18ga went pretty quick.
I don't condone doing it... I think it's a much better idea to go donate blood and have it done by a pro, plus it goes towards a good cause. I just did it because my bloods came back high and I wasn't able to feasibly donate in a reasonable amount of time before a trip. Plus, I'm not one to get whoozy from it... If you can't easily watch the tech pull bloods for labs or donation you will NOT be able to do the blood let yourself.
You need to take a video of this one lol. This is a hardcore bodybuilding move. I’ve taken several shots a day on cycles so needles are nothing to me- except this!I use a 16, just remove the plunger and drain it into a pint mason jar. [emoji236

20ga will work. Trust me. I started an iv on a patient one night and when i removed the flush it spun off the 1 way valve. I go to give the meds and oops, why is my leg wet?Is that why they recommend doing a 16ga, for RBC preservation? That seems unlikely to me but I've never heard of it before... 16-18ga is huge and RBC are small, I can't imagine it could be an issue. Even raw test crystals for suspension flow easily through that size.
I felt more comfortable with an 18ga and it was the biggest I had on hand so that's what I used. As long as I kept squeezing my fist, everything flowed real quick.
I dumped about a pint... So about 500ml. You do need a steady hand and decent sized veins or you'd probably struggle... I have both so I didn't think it would be too hard, and it wasn't. But again, I would still rather go to the red cross to do it. It's a little sketchy to do it yourself... But doable if you have enough knowledge and don't get whoozy. Passing out during it is a huge concern to me but I don't get whoozy from something like that, it's a little trippy to watch though.

Edit: It will flow alot slower though
If you have a problem with flow, i suppose flushing it with some saline could help or maybe gently drawing with a syringe. I can see it being difficult to thread a luer lock on with one hand though.Haha! I actually had 21ga that I did consider using since it was the first time I had done it... But I didn't want to have an issue and have to pull it and do another vein. After doing the 18ga, I would definitely not be opposed to going smaller if I do it again... I didn't time myself but I don't think it could have taken more than 10min at most. It didn't feel that long and I basically just sat still do I figured it was going to feel like forever.
From everything I’ve read they use a 16ga needle as to not damage the RBCs. I think you can definitely go higher if you’re not donating it. I was just worried that maybe it didn’t get out the thicker elements of blood which we want to get out- looks like it’s not a problem with 20 or 21 ga. They use the 16 because if they used smaller it could possible slightly damage the RBCs when drawing larger quantities. I may have to try this with a 20ga. So you guys don’t use a tube? Just a syringe with no plunger? Do you turn your arm or something to get it to flow down through syringe into jar? It doesn’t squirt all over the place?Haha! This kit for blood drawing is very interesting. I think it’s just getting through the first time doing it. After that - you will be doing it every 4 months. I guess just take it slowly and use a 20ga and draw 50-100mls do you don’t end up having an issue where you are lightheaded and confused as you remove it.If you have a problem with flow, i suppose flushing it with some saline could help or maybe gently drawing with a syringe. Also, i think this is an awesome business idea. I'm sure alot of guys here would like to buy from a brother and help his business out. Good luck @xgunx

If youre only going to draw every 4 months, 16 weeks, why not just donate blood if you can. This kit for blood drawing is very interesting. I think it’s just getting through the first time doing it. Well idk is it safe and better for us to donate more often than the recommended 144 days or something like that? I think a lot of guys would prefer to do this at home if it could be done effectively and safely,If youre only going to draw every 4 months, 16 weeks, why not just donate blood if you can.
I’m the opposite. I will require my Gfs assistance on this one, she may even have to play phlebotomist and do the entire setup. I have shaky hands. No problem for IM Injections but this requires more skill.I straightened my arm down and put the barrel into a cup.
However, I'd get a tube if I did it again... I'd actually get a pleb kit. The scariest thing of the whole experience was the idea of the cup skipping out of my hand. That would have been fucking horrific. Not to mention the blood that would have been shed when my girl discovered the mess... If I ever go missing, a botched bloodlet and my subsequent murder is definitely not out of the question.
I dont personally do this myself. I do donate blood when I can though. There is a thread about this, burried somewhere, and i think one guy talks about how often he draws, based on his lab work.Well idk is it safe and better for us to donate more often than the recommended 144 days or something like that? How did you even know which vein or artery to hit? I assume if you are a righty you hit the left arm. Do I just aim for the biggest one? LolI straightened my arm down and put the barrel into a cup.

Thanks bro. I’ve searched for something like this many times but used blood instead of phlebotomy as keywordfound a thread that may interest you.
