Bottle top filter without threads?

I just ordered all of my homebrewing equipment. I got my bottle top filter and it does not have threads on it. I thought the description said it had gl-45 threads and i also bought a glass media bottle for the receptacle. Anyways, does it have to be sealed to the bottle top and create a vaccum IN the media bottle? Idk if i should order another one or not, because it stays "place filter unit on top of a vaccum flask or glass bottle" then it says" hold filter unit while slowly applying vacuum" how is it supposed to get a seal if there are no threads? Theres some kind of foam on the bottom of the filter and Idk if it acts like a gasket to acquire vacuum or not. This is probably super confusing but if someone knows please give me some insight

can you post a picture of what you have? its hard to understand.

The bottletop filter is screwed onto the GL-45 media bottle.

What brand of filters did you buy? It sounds like the foam should be a gasket and once you start pulling vacuum it will seal. Depending on brand they aren't to bad.

However if the filters don't match the description of what the seller put you should probably take the brand and part number to cross reference to see what they actually are. You don't want to think your using a .2 micron filter when they are really .45.

Post a photo of this filter please.

I will do my best to help you.

I see why you are confused.
Now I am confused too.

Did you try to screw this on a gl45 bottle even if it doesn't actually seem possible?
Maybe the plastic is flexible and adapts to the screw part of the gl45 bottle airtight.

In the instructions it says you have to hold it while vacuum is applied.
First time I ever hear of this.

Let's wait for other people's opinions.

I was 100% sure that I would solve your problem, but that's not the case.

Yeah those are zapcaps. You just hold them on while pumping your vacuum pump. They won't screw on maybe the description said they will fit GL45 threads as they will fit over them.

I havent tried it yet, as my raws are coming next week, but will soon. Apparently that rubber/foam piece inside the neck creates a seal with a vaccum
