I am having issues getting "Sterile" Syringe filters where i am now (for a decent price) I had read about using ISO or BB to sterilize syringe filters. Does anyone know this process ?
Thanks

Im in canada. And can usually used Amazon, but its been hit or miss recently for availability. I am just curious, what the process is.. thats all..
I can't help you with the process but try what the guy above has posted maybe they have on stock.
I usually buy from China. Takes about 3 weeks to arrive but is the cheapest way for me

Use buyneedles or canadamedsupply for sterile filters, takes about 2 days from buy needles.
Both those sites are 10 bucks a filter.. I usually get them for alot cheaper than that. I just want to know the process. Incase one day i need to sterilize my self

This will sound counterproductive, but you can "sterilize" your filter by running carrier oil through it.
I am not an expert of this, so others can chime in but wtf you talk about?
Oil is not sterile you dumbfuck.

You can sterilize it by running benzyl alcohol thru it, and then little bit of oil to wash it.

But I would rather by sterilized ones.

LOL. I always buy sterile. But, like i said. availability is hit or miss sometimes. and in a pinch i may need to do this. I read a post before about sterilizing them, and just wondering if any one knew the process.

so just run a couple mls of BA through and you good?

@xmilar:
I read it somewhere. I havent tried and I wouldnt do it personally tho.
I just say buy some filter from ebay. You can find it in UK, USA etc. Just ship it whichever is closer to you.

If you can afford these I'd seriously reconsider gear use.
I just bought those. Sometimes they are available.. sometimes not. The main ones i buy are not available rights not, and the last batch before these were TERRRIBLE> I could filter 2ml before they plugged.

its just a simple question here guys, I have access to sterile ones, Im just planning ahead incase i might need to sterilize filters in the future.

I would only trust filters sterilized by gamma radiation. I've seen a few guys over the years who've had to get chunks of flesh cut out because of dirty gear so not worth the risk!

Just my humble bumble opinion of course ;)

Ok chucklefuck,

What do you think happens when you filter something through a .22micron filter?

What do you think running a bacteriostatic preservative through your filter will accomplish?

Do you think your gear is sterile because of the 1-2% BA added in solution?

Benzyl alcohol's primary use is not as an antiseptic or a disinfectant.

To the OP, ideally you would buy sterile in the future. I'm in Canada as well and have no problems sourcing sterile filters. Your last alternative is to autoclave or pressure cook them. Problem will be not melting them if you go dry heat. Good luck

Wait, so then why do you think running carrier oil through it would sterilize it? Lol
