Blood calcium levels and prolonged use of hgh

Hello. I’m not a habitual poster, however if anyone has any useful info on prolonged hGH use and high blood calcium levels I’d surely appreciate it. I have stage 3 ckd and very high blood calcium levels. I’ve had my pituitary checked and it’s unremarkable. Is the prolonged use of hgh at low dosage the reason or cause of my calcium levels being high? The drs cannot find a reason other than possibly the use of hgh. I’d appreciate any info someone may have. Thanks

Growth hormone (GH) causes a modest increase in urine calcium excretion in normal adults, but uremic (with renal insufficiency) rats given both GH and calcitriol developed hypercalciuria. The risk for rhGH-induced hypercalciuria is exitstent yet small in persons with renal insufficiency, even when treated concomitantly with a vitamin D preparation.

It would be contraindicated (i.e., recommended that you stop using the rHGH) in patients with stage 3 CKD as it has been shown in a model of renal dysfunction to lead to hypercalciuria.

Hypercalciuria is when they measure the increased calcium excretion in urine, wereas hypercalcemia is increased calcium in the blood. They are both a proxy for the same thing(s).

Type-IIx how would I go about coming off the gh. I’ve been using 3iu/day, 5-6 days a week for years. I’m not sure if I should cold turkey.

I'd stop cold turkey. No reason not to! Tapering off will just delay your pituitary coming back online. You'll be surprised how smooth it is. Exercise and sleep are potent stimuli for natural pulses of GH, so make sure you get plenty of both and you'll recover nicely.

I would think so, wouldn't recommend it otherwise. I'm generally pro-GH, but in your case, not a good idea. Get that kidney or those kidneys in order!

And in case you missed my edit above, sleep and exercise are potent stimuli for GH pulses so get plenty of both.

Thanks man. I only really use it to keep bf down. I eat fairly clean but I have zero appetite so I do throw in a bad meal or two each day just so I don’t disappear. I’ll just limit the bad and go from there. Appreciate the responses.
