what are your unpopular opinions?

Throwing money at a broken system is madness. The burden of paying employees should lie on the employer. I’m not reaping the profits derived from their employees’ labour.

I get what you’re saying, but it’s essentially slapping a very expensive bandaid onto a compound fracture.
What are you doing to fix the problem?

As far as I see it, there are a few solutions:
- legislation to mandate all restaurants/bars pay their employees minimum wage, notice to the public that tipping is no longer customary
- everyone tips like they're supposed to

So are you actively involved in legislation to fix this problem?

Nope. I have my own job. That’s more than enough work for me.

People need to advocate for themselves.

I've worked service.

A lot of great people....
A lot of people that dont put in the time/effort to deserve a tip (Then complain)

No one here has a problem with giving money to someone that deserves it (Via service).
Some establishments would fire the wait staff that didnt get tipped (Back when I was young) because there wasnt discerning enough service.
Some girls made a few thousand in tips on a friday night.
TIFF was the best.... I think one girl made like 6k ( @Human_backhoe confirm this one... I cant remember the number lol)

Someone just throws my food on the table... they're not getting shit.

It's the basic principle of capitalism.
If I do shit work... and dont look after my clients... I dont lose a few bucks in tips.. inlose a client and potentially millions in life long revenue.

Why is wait staff so special that they deserve to he excluded from the basic principles of employment/Capitalism and business?
Haha, ok this will be my last reply since I feel like I am turning into an advocate for waitstaff, which I am not!

I have no-tipped in a couple of egregious cases. It was a purposeful fuck you to the person, that was deserved.

I still stand by the principle of trying to treat decent human beings as decent human beings.

So the only way to help people is by giving them money lol? And where exactly did I say I couldn't afford it? If you chose to pay double for everything, well that's your choice and not something the general public can do as most families struggle paycheck to paycheck and by your logic those families should just stay home and that is just wrong!
The problem with tipping is that it's expected of us to tip. If it wasn't expected, then maybe you wouldn't get as many cunty servers out there. Entitlement has blown up so fucking much...
I started out working in a kitchen in high school. I never got tipped but you bet your ass the server serving my food did. I had a different experience bouncing though. The bartenders would tip us out every night, and give a little extra if we had to get our hands dirty.
Like you I bettered myself, got a trade and worked my way up as supervisor, superintendent, etc. But where was my hand out when I was pulling wrenches for $13 an hour. Biking to work because I couldn't pay for gas and insurance. Eating hams and ground beef because it was the cheapest of meats. It's not like the only people struggling are the ones in the service industry. But you bust your balls to better yourself and get what you put into it without expecting anything from anyone else.

And on top of that, north america seems to be the worst in the world with the expectations of tipping.

Because in other countries the servers get a livable wage.
I wonder how much spit some of you guys have rightfully consumed when you go out to eat.

Never said I didn't tip, I just refuse to tip shitty service because it's expected. I'll tip when it's earned. Re-read what I wrote....

But you're just going to read it how you like aren't you? Or am I assuming as well?

Also, not only is spitting in someone's food fucked up, it's illegal.
Here in Canada, it would technically be a criminal offence, Mischief Under $5000, contrary to section 430 of our Criminal Code.
I guess spitting in someone's food is easier than putting a smile on your face and keeping my glass full of whatever I'm drinking. To each their own.

It was easy to do to dick heads who came back to the restaurant that didn’t tip. It was better for them than slamming their heads into the pavement. I got into doing security later for that one.
i actually managed a restaurant for a little while that wouldnt serve customers that tried to come back after not tipping. we had a nice wall of shame

i already addressed that way earlier about not tipping rude servers. Fact of the matter is its usually the customer who is the cheap asshole.

So you're literally arguing with me about something we agree on. I never mentioned anything about cheap customers, just the fact that rude servers feel that they're entitled to a tip. You're now just bringing up stupid points to possibly insinuate that I'm cheap? I don't get what point you're trying to make with me...

what opinions do you have that are unpopular in general, or on bodybuilding forums? mine..

1. Bodybuilders are not fit. Look up the definition of the word. Bodybuilders, for the most part, are not heathy, are not good at athletic events. Look at the muscled up NFL guys, except DK met calf, they all suck. Look at UFC, no muscle bound guys. Look on. forum "my poor digestion, what BP med, my poor bloodwork,,,how to cure my distention and poor digestion" that is not considered fit by the general public

2. No one is underpaid. iF everyone says "wahhh im underpaid" then no one is underpaid. If your career pays low, find a new one. You can't? Why not, your disabled, too lazy, too dumb? Suppy and demand is real science, not fake covid science.

3. Men now days are weak and feminine. Look how many got the vaccine, wear masks, get bossed around by women at work, let women boss them around. How many white dudes back down when some angry black woman cusses them out or apologize for some microagression? Pathetic.

4. Society as. whole is too fucking at. This board as a whole is too fucking fat. Guys at the gym are too fucking fat. Most guys put on too much fat hoping it will defy their genetics and allow them to build muscle their body will never carry, and thy just realize when they cut down all they did was puff up on dbol, glycogen, and water. Your better off slowly gaining over time and getting strong as fuck then walking around half the year with a belly full of digested foot. Even 12 percent is fat. If your waist is over 34 inches unless your arms are 19 plus, your not lean.

5. Having a small waist is more important than low body fat. Take 2 5'10 200lb lifters, one has a 32 inch waist at 9 percent one has 34.5 inch waist and some distension and a blocky look but is lower body fat. This guy will not look as lean. Your shape makes you look lean more than how many veins you have on your quads.

6. Bodybuilders accept having high blood pressure and being on meds in also the same way some in the gay community have HIV, and almost brag about it. You should not accept a life of needing a medicine to surive

7. Going off the above, we are an over medicated society. The Amish aren't fatasses and slavs to technology, vaccines, and a drug for every little thing that happens .."I have heart burn,, what med to take". "my poopy is runny, I need a medicine". "I have cold, I need medicine". its insane how much we rely on drugs and we make our immune systems weaker while making big pharma rich

I tip according to service
Just a little but, just the tip...just to see how it feels.

I tired to tip a waitress when I first moved over here...she thought I was propositioning her for "additional services"

Hooked up with her later that night, so Ill take a win when I can get it lol.

There are some countries where tipping is not the norm as people are simply expected to do their jobs well.

Every time I am back in Canada (pre-Cov) it throws me off when a 15$ meal costs me 25$ and all she did was drop a plate on my table.

i actually managed a restaurant for a little while that wouldnt serve customers that tried to come back after not tipping. we had a nice wall of shame
Did you also pay the employees a living wage?

I love how everyone is all like “if you don’t tip you’re a piece of shit” while completely ignoring the fact that the whole reason that tipping is a thing is because employers want to pass the buck, pay their employees garbage wages and then get the general public to pick up the slack.

Don’t blame the people who are making you beg for scraps in the first place — blame the people throwing the scraps. That’s some Stockholm-syndrome shit right there….

I was the manager not the owner. I also touched on that in an earlier post as well. guess it’s too much to ask for people to go back to the beginning of a conversation before they voice their opinion on it though

Do you know how long I’d spend on this site if I went back and looked at every post someone made in a thread before responding to a post?

Yes, it is too much to ask.

So you form an opinion without being fully informed? Good to know
Feel free to disregard every word that I say. No skin off my dick. The day that I need validation from some random on an internet forum is the day that I give up on life.

You know that going back and reading every post isn’t feasible — you’re being disingenuous for convenience.

You’re trying to tell me that every time you respond to someone you go back to the beginning of the thread and read every post that they wrote first?
