Perhaps I have missed a Thread about GOT but obviously there is a massive following and I’m sure there has to be some excitement of the announcement that the Prequel for GOT will be “House Of The Dragon” which was just signed for 10 episodes.

So it’s suppose to be 300 years before the GOT time setting and what seems to be that it will follow the rise of House Targaryen through Aegon's Conquest while also taking in the Targaryen civil war which is was called Dance of the Dragons.

There was originally a pilot that they launched with Naomi Watts but it was canned after the first pilot even launched, they went 1000 years before which in my opinion is just way to far back to have any correlation with what most of us know as Westeros and Esos today.

So now with a setting of only 300 years we should be able to resemble to it a little more.

Now I believe this will still have some basis of Martins Book “Fire & Blood” so they should at least have some foundation to build the script on.

At this point the writing has only begun and there has been no casting for the show.
Although incredibly excited the only disappointment is the fact that this will not Air until 2022. That’s right, 2 God damn Years!!!

I believe after the ending of Season 8 for most including myself left a bitter taste in my mouth, to imagine Bran as the King of the Seven Kingdoms was a joke tbh.

At least now they will really go into House Targaryen and show not only the development of Westeros, the creation of Kings Landing as well as the rise of all the other houses.

So what are your guys thoughts on this new Prequel?

Will it flop? Will it redeem GOT? Will it have more blonde looking Emília Clark’s from House Targaryen? Excitement to see when Dragons really roamed the air in full force.

I would like to hear your thoughts and ideas!!!

I skipped the ending where Bran became king. Never watched that part. The rest of the season was great as far as I'm concerned. I could do without another Emilia Clark, though. The writers made her character way too obvious. Every time she said, "bend the knee", I wondered why she didn't immediately get a sword through the chest.

Definitely looking forward to a new season full of dragons.

I dunno man season 8 was definitely a bit of a letdown. I think the prequel sounds cool but I’m also glad it’s gonna be awhile so it’s not rushed like the final season felt. I gotta look to see when the other spinoffs are gonna come out they could be good too.

I've read all the original books and seen every episode of the show. Ending of the show was a major letdown. Probably the most cheated by an ending I've ever felt. Besides that I loved the books and the show. Actually saw that new book, Fire and Blood at a store recently. Didn't even realize he'd written another one.

Ok so someone suggested what this thread was missing were questions like this:

What kind of cycle does Brandon Stark need now to remain king? (You know he was 6ft2in?)

Was Khal Drogo natty?

Hodor was over 7ft tall, if he ran some DNP and a sick cycle could he of been the next Ser Gregor Clegane (The Mountain)

Sandor Clegane (The hound) was smaller then his brother, but had better strength you think?

Imagine the Giants when on cycle, they were about 14ft tall, imagine one of those dudes in the gym next to you running Tren!!

Well at least some of my predictions were correct when I posted this 10 months ago, it seems it’s going to be 200 years prior with Viserys Targaryen
as current King of house Targaryen ruling all of Westeros from DragonStone. I believe the house Velaryon is shown joining the Targaryen house and will be focused on the Dance Of The Dragon mainly plot. Expected date still seems to hold for a 2022 Release.

I don't hold out much hope for this unless the new show runners basically ignore the brain dead conclusion ideas in the last season of the "sequel" and go back towards *something* closer to what Martin was building to in the books.

Even then I still don't hold out too much hope as the market is now awash is fantasy fantasy and sci-fi shows. The original had VASTLY less competition. Many of the new tropes that were unfamiliar to most mainstream audiences have been copied nd beaten to death now as well.

Throw in some of the "series fatigue" coming out of the too-long MCU, bad franchises like TWD and spin offs, etc and the situation just isn't as primed for this becoming appointment TV the way the original series started as.

What's some of your favorite shows better than game of thrones?

Totally subjective of course but at the moment:
Blacklist (not sci-fi or fantasy)
Grimm (ended some time ago but was a bloody masterclass in TV writing)
American Gods (right until half the cast got me-too'd)
Foundation (Have to see about longevity here)
The Expanse (still ongoing)
Vikings (Clearly fantasy vice historical)
The Mandalorian

I am actually stunned that the new Dune IP are movies instead of series as the books lend themselves well to series format. Even the new movie really feels like 2-3 episode length sets.

There are also tons of IPs that are doing well but aren't my bag (but are still competitors):
Literally any ongoing thing in the MCU (I am tired of them now)
Lucifer (sorry the female lead is unwatchable for me)
Some of the AHS spin offs
an endless parade of subtitled sci-fi coming out of Korea etc that people get to binge for free on Netflix
Picard (doing fine despite autistic fanboy screeching)
Any of the historical drama about royal houses etc also compete HEAVILY in this space for the incredibly key girlfriend demographic.
Bunch of stuff on HBO I don't follow

The landscape for live and on demand long-form content is just not even remotely the same as it was when GoT first launched. The bar is much higher and there are many more competitors for viewer eyeball time.

There are even ethnically targeted fantasy IPS out there like Lovecraft Country (don't even bother unless you adore racial grievance in every 3rd line) that take small chunks away from the GoT broad audience.

Yea bro I hear you. I was just wondering about some new shows for me to watch because I loved the game of thrones. I thought that viking looked pretty cool. I'm in the process of moving but when I'm done I am going to and see what the vikings is all about.

vikings is all about.
Really enjoyable as long as you don't get too wound up about historical accuracy.

The writing is generally pretty solid and the actors are really into their roles.

Agreed ...I only get mad when someone like Disney tries to change history to fit their political agenda ..That infuriates me! thats why I refuse to give Disney another penny ...Jungle Cruise was disgraceful ..They had to put a gay story line in it and had to throw all the white skinned people destroying the poor dark skinned people...No intent there lol ...Poor kids have to watch this stuff ...

Yes big let down ..Thats HBO for you ...

Yes, now very often the script distorts the historical line of the real plot. And the purpose of this is not to add colorfulness to the film, namely political games. It makes me sad and sad

In fact, I am still amazed that they did not make a TV series out of the Dune Universe or made stories about individual heroes. While the film was shot as an introduction for many other films and TV series, it seems to me

U have no idea how it angers me ..The worst part is I see it in everything to some extent and it drives me up the wall..I dont want to see any politics in movies unless its about politics ...

Everybody seems to want to push every damn social justice thing on us ..It never stops ...Thats why they wont get my money anymore ..

I would have like d a series too BUT... The series arena is HUGELY crowded with very slow build shows (honestly it is to the point of absurdity) where the movie arena right now was/is starved for content.

I have to think that played a role.

The movies are terrible now for some reason ...

I perfectly understand you and your anger. I am in the same state and it makes me wildly angry about all the politics in films and these games
