bulk chicken breast

yes i've tried google but there are just so many options out there i can't tell which one is good / where to even get a good deal. here in NY i'm currently paying $6.99/lb for standard boneless skinless chicken breast. you can sometimes get them for as low as $3.99/lb but you're sacrificing a lot of quality by going with such a budget brand. each breast will be lik 20oz.. pretty gross

if i can get chicken breast at a 25-35% off discount by buying in bulk i'll be pretty happy. suggestions?

Damn, I'd lose my shit at that price. Fred Meyer (Kroger), has chicken breast for ,1.99 pound. There may be better out there, but this shit still has a gaggle of protein in it.

well we have the cheap stuff too 3.99lb for the bottom barrel shit, 5.99-6.99 for the mid level, and 8.99-9.99+ for the cream of the crop shit. new yorks an expensive place

Idk what barrel this comes out of, but some enough seasoning and a little time on the smoker and in love this shit.

When you say bottom barrel, what is lower quality about? May seem like silly question, but I'm no expert and this seems way better than foster farms or any of the frozen shit.

$2.19/lb

the cheaper ones have a different texture but hey i guess i'm just gonna have to get creative if i'm paying 2 bucks a pound. that would be fucking great. i ground or shred my chicken when i'm not cooking it in the pressure cooker. sometimes i do sous vide and cook 6 breasts and have that perfectly cooked.

Damn. My local co-op sells breast for $5 a pound and thighs for $3.75. Local free range organic. Maybe look around for other stores? You might have to drive a bit too.

What on earth are you thinking is the difference between a $7 chicken breast and a $4 or $2 breast....? Ambiance? There are no Kobe chickens.

All of these idiot fucking birds come out of the same cloaca as the next.

I was getting sick of grilled chicken breasts until I learn how to brine them. Thaw frozen chicken breast in water with about 2 tablespoons of salt for 2 or 3 days. The salt breaks down the proteins in the chicken and softens it ....it's like Chick-Fil-A grilled chicken after you do that LOL.Tender AF

It does matter. I worked on a chicken farm when i was a kid. Trust me when i say if you saw what they feed and do to those chicken you wouldn’t touch them. Those humongous chicken breasts you see are not natural and it’s honestly gross. They genetically alter those chickens as meat chickens. They are so fat they cant walk. They have no feathers on the bottom side of them because they never stand up. Then you go down the road of what they inject them with and feed them. Those heritage farm breast have carrageenan in them which has been linked to IBS, glucose intolerance, colon cancer etc. No thanks. I will spend a few dollars more on local farm raised chickens that are the size they are supposed to be not some mutant bird.

As did I...

While I agree... my point is that ALL the birds you buy in a grocery store are nothing but the industrial birds... Paying more in a grocery store is simply indulging in fictional thinking.

As you say, unless you are buying direct from a farm you are personally familiar with, you are just buying mutants.

When buying mutant meat, cheap is the same as pricey. The only difference is marketing bullshit.

Try going to Jetro Restaurant Depot, good quality chicken breast and you can buy in bulk it’ll save you the bi weekly trip to buy food.

The only downside is you need to have a membership, if you know someone that owns a restaurant or something with a membership you can use theirs

I like getting my egg whites from there..15 32oz pasteurized egg whites for $30

Chicken breast is like $80 for 10 pounds, good quality too
