Active rest

I like the sauna units that you can add some water to to get a little steam going. Or just dump a little water on the rocks to get some steam. I like the steam a lot and it really increases the heat transfer to your body. Increases the sweat more.
Yes, that's what I tried to do in the sauna and it's just a buzz when you pour water on the stones and it gets hot and steam appears. And just sitting in the sauna is not very pleasant in the end.

Hmm, idk about not very pleasant though. Do you have a thermometer? What temp is it at, how long are you in there at max temp, and do you sit on the highest bench where it is hottest?

I always get to a point where I am like "man I gotta gtfo of here this is crazy". You just feel like uncomfortable, perhaps slightly physically anxious (antsy, almost jittery, like you wanna get up and move right fucking now). That feeling continues to get worse and worse until you just are almost forced to get up and leave. That is the dynorphin hitting you all at once then continuing to rise.

Yes, I go in and sit on the bottom bunk, then slowly climb up to the highest one. And as soon as I get very hot, it's like a feeling in hell. I count mentally 60 seconds and go out and try immediately under cold water. And on this temperature difference, I feel very good.

So when this feeling hits should you push thru it or get out?

So you Can't really push through it, you can only push onward. The feeling will continue to get more intense the longer The exposure. You can push but after some number of minutes you'll just have to get out. I always push as long ad I can because the dynorphin exposure is good for you. Plus it is additional time and intensity of heat shock protein exposure, which is the driver behind be benefits to cardiovascular health, mental health, reduced risk of dying, etc. Then when you finally do get out...omg it feels SOOO good. It's just magical lol. I can go stand outside naked or in boxers in 10 degree weather just like "YEAAAASSS THIS IS THE LIFE!" Lmao. Ice cold showers feel like nothing. It's so wild.

I fucking love sauna. So much.

I will have to try it.

We took ice baths after big workouts when I played college football. If you could make it for a couple minutes you go numb an then its a feeling thats hard to describe. It feels great but that first few minutes are excruciating!

I still remember the looks i got for sitting in the Merced River that comes out of Yosemite when i would go camping there in the early spring. The water was the snow melt coming out of the park. That stuff just makes me feel alive!

This is an excellent description of the condition, I read it with pleasure and presented the word as it is.

Once I was in Finland and there the local guys took a steam bath in the sauna, and then we jumped into the icy river. They had minus 20 Celsius there. It was awesome and unforgettable.
