Baking gear??

So whats the deal with this? Im guessing its baked after filtering? Is it absolutely necessary? What temp/time? It seems like some people simply filter and add the BA and everything is fine.

Any info is much appreciated.

Baking is not a normal part of brewing gear that I have ever heard. I have only heard of baking glassware and vials to sterilize them before brewing or adding finished, filtered oil.

Also, BA is added before filtering, not after.

Right on. Thanks. Ive heard people talk about it before, though Ive never done it personally. Just BA/ filter as you said. Part of the conversation is always about potentially damaging the hormone in solution.

On my last homebrew after I steralized all my glassware I turned the oven down to 275 and put my USP oil in the beaker while I let my powder dissolve in the BB over heat. Worked out pretty well to keep the temperature up instead of adding room temp oil and having to heat it again.

As Long as you use the correct filter (0.22 micron aka 220 nanometer), then you are good and baking is stupid.

Yeah I used some crap chinese Ebay .22 micron filters and got a wicked infection about a month ago. Miserable. Switched to some more expensive ones on Amazon and it seems to be fine.

Yeah don't skimp out on filters. They are your last line of defense against bacteria!! Get the good ones. I've been fine with Amazon, but you can't go wrong with GPZ.

GPZ?? Sorry, I'm noob as hell over here.
Google GPZ you'll find the website. Make sure to skip over the first row or 2 of "results" google puts on top that are actually paid ads that don't deserve to be at the top of the results.
