possible risk of injecting homebrewed gear

So, I just finished my first 50ml of primo at 200mg/ml ( ended up with 43ml lol, I think because I used a 3ml syringe to suck it out of the 500ml glass and used a new needle every time. So that would probably waste some oil ).

But I am curious. How likely is it that it causes any problems with injecting if I didnt do everything right? Like some oil spilled for example and my hands were a bit oily but I kept filtering with syringe filters. What if I messed something up, and some small dust got in the vial or maybe something not very clean. What is most likely scenario then? Just a red / hot skin or a lump? or do you get a serious infection pretty easy?

If I doubt about my work I would do it again
It doesn't sound like you trust what have you done
If the needle is in the vial and it passes through the filter then it's ok but I wasn't there to see what has happened. I can't say online that is good or not
I would not pin as a infection is not something I would want to deal atm

Ill filter again, sucks because I have no idea what the vial was that I messed up lol. So have to filter 5 vials again haha

If you used syringe filters and closed vials I don't see how you could have messed it up.

If its contaminated you ;likely wont die but you will be sick and in pain for around a week. Pretty miserable.I had infections in BOTH butt cheeks at the same time.

Let’s be real, there’s always a risk when homebrewing, but there’s several ways to mitigate risk.

Re-filtering sucks, but I once got through 12 vials out of 18 when brewing EQ (filtered through syringe filters and caulking gun), and realized I forgot to add BA. So I poured it all back into my beaker, added BA, and re-filtered. Not as much of a risk of contamination, but it was more about ensuring no further growth of anything is possible.

Man, how did you treat that.. How did it go/end?
Oh I put 2cc in each cheek with homebrew I'd filtered with Chinese Ebay yellow rimmed .22um filters. Supposedly sterile. Started off as sore so I figured regular PIP, but then the swelling started. Soon my ass was swollen and I was sick as hell. Fever and body aches. Hard to walk, even harder to stand. Thought about going to the emergency room but decided to just stay in bed few days and see how it went. I felt better with rest + Vitamin C and Zinc supplements. Bought some OTC sleeping pills and just slept as much as possible to minimize stress and recover. I noticed that I would get worse when I was up and moving around. Took about a week but I recovered without any permanent damage.

Thanks for al the replies guys, small update.

I re filtered 3 vials again. I injected on tuesday, 0,8ml of 200mg/ml primo (I inject 3 times a week and normally I inject test and primo together but wanted to test this brew so I did primo only). Next day just a small bit of pip as expexcted, started getting flu symptons like having goosebumps and a bit of cold in the evening and felt sick. Next morning was the same, felt like shit. Slept for 2 more hours and it was completely gone. Went on with my day, and later to the gym. Got back home, exact same symptons and feeling sick again and the pip got worse these days.

So I know you guys aren’t doctors but is there something I could have done wrong?

I used gso, it could be a new carrier oil. Think the gear I used before was mct. It’s not a virgin muscle I use it all the time. I heated the brew to the melting point to dissolve the primo, and went up about 10*C. About 85*C degrees and then turned of the hot plate. I used a magnetic hot plate stir device and a thermometer.

After that I had it sit open in air and pulled out the brew with a 3ml syringe. Had 2 needles in a closed sterilized vial (sterilized with pressure cooker for an hour in autoclave bags). 1 for venting and 1 was connected to a 0.22 micron filter (also sterilized in pressure cooker). So every time I pulled 3ml from the beaker and connected to filter and started filtering. To me this seems like it should be fine right? The last step is most important, the filtering.

What could it have been? Should I heat the brew more and for longer ? I read somewhere to heat the gear so the pip gets less. But how warm and for how long ?

What filters did you use?

One the bill for an ED visit will easily run 5K for a simple abscess while hospital admission 20K

I always get pip and inflammation with primo at 200mg/ml. Even cruising with it causes pip. 100 no problem. 200 every single time, even if I filter, and use filter drawing from vial, nothing changes if I use .5ml or more.

About your feelings of sickness: Have you checked e2? I know when I started the 200mg/ml primo i definitely crashed my e2 mildly with AI because I didn’t get it tuned in right and aromatise very little. On those occasions I felt pretty crap but still got to the gym and could lift the same so it wasn’t actual illness. It was weird and sometimes even felt totally normal in the middle of or by the end of the workout or like noon of that day.

mhmm sound pretty accurate. Maybe that could be the case. I should try to ad some oil maybe. Next time i’ll mix it up with a bit of test and see if it happens again. But I am on 540 test 500 primo now and felt pretty good last 4-5 weeks. Just the last shot from my homebrew was shit

From where? I got sick using Chinese .22um filters from Ebay.
Uhm well the filters I bought now are from a mushroom homebrew shop and I had to sterilize them myself. I orderd some from aliexpress those should be pre sterilized. Will check next time with those
