I'm always trying new things, and also learning new things, and during my research and experimentation to see what is the best and safest way to train, it occurred to me that those who have the least amount of injuries, like Jay Cutler and Dexter Jackson, all trained high volume, and didn't go to heavy failure compared to Ronnie, Yates, and others.
Mind you, I love Yates and did his DYHIT for a while, but it certainly tore his ass up early to make him retire. And when I did his training, you certainly must rest those three days a week. But ironically enough, the HIT types say their training is less wear-and-tear on the body, because you're training less volume and less frequency, yet we see the guys who get injured the most, push the heaviest weights.
And now that we have new research showing that there is almost no difference going to failure or beyond, compared to having 0-3 RIR. Perhaps this is why Cutler and others, who look like their training is fluffy, allows them to still build great physiques with those 4-5 sets going to 0-3 RIR, without getting destroyed by injuries.
