Build your own program vs apps or other pre built

I found a cookie cutter bro split ive been doing. Programming is not my strong suit. I just cant focus to learn about it. Ive tried reading so many books and it just doesnt click (the little black book of training, arnolds books, etc). Im looking for a app or a program I can follow and I will put some money into it. I cant squat or DL because of a back injury and I would like something that isnt just grinding high reps all the time, I respond well to some low rep high intensity work. Im aware of the mountain dog programs, what else? Have you guys used apps?

For me the more simple the training program the better. I'm doing minimalistic approach.

I prefer to base it around compound exercises and barbells mostly. There are exercises I like that are not weights, for example pullups and dips.

It's like if you're not high level, you don't even need complicated, too much volume program. Focus on compounds 80% throw in some isolation 20% and you're good, I guess.

Yea I think thats a good strategy. I just cant squat or DL cause i have a herniated disc. I just suck at fatigue management. I have trouble backing down. Do you do deloads? What do you do when you plateau or feel like your just moving backwards?

Not gonna pretend I care about progressing in strength nowadays, but I'll answer what I did in the past.

When stuck on the same weight, say bench or ohp for example. First of all, of course increase the calories (fat and carbs) and adjust pre workout snacks for the right time. Then if that didn't help I threw in something like dbol (you can also do test base for this purpose or even halo I hear is good). Usually that helped and within a week or so I did break through the plateau.

As for moving backwards, I find it happens when I over train slightly, then I decrease the volume and adjust the frequency, while keeping intensity (weight on the bar). Remove some exercises that are not primary and go to the drawing board and see if my diet is good enough, usually I find flaws with tracking when it happens. Also in some cases taking a week or so off, helps a lot.

Squats and deadlifts, nobody said you have to do them, leg press is just as good if you're not in to powerlifting (competing) and deadlift itself some experts say it's quite dangerous and risk to reward ratio is not worth it for regular people not in to competition. I can't remember but some pro PL or something said it on youtube, he is well know, but I just can't remember it rn.

So, man take a look in to your diet, there is always something to fix, it's never perfect, not that it should be. But good enough is perfect. It's the easiest thing to slip on whether cutting or bulking or maintaining.

Imho building a workout today is like trying to create a new song on guitar. Everything has been done its just about finding out what works for you. And that includes doing things that keep you coming back more than "what is best" for most people and that's ok. First goal is exercises you like then just roll them into any pre-made routine style and you are set.

It seems to me that it is better than to assemble the program yourself to turn to a specialist. We have such guys on the forum. it will be more efficient.

The best app is juggernauts training Ai app. That's Chad Wesley Smith's app and a lot of work went into it.

As for program excel based sheet's, I'd say Mike's Israetel sheet's are ok, my programing is kinda based off of that.

Wow, interesting app, thanks for the hint, I didn't see it.

Well I may have found a purpose....my gf talked to one of her friends who does OF and scheduled me to fuck her on camera....idk how I feel about this...I thought we were gonna do the normal monogamous relationship but I guess she wants to sell my body lol

Would you say this app is worth the price each month? Or better of searching online for different workouts? I'm hunting around for a new workout atm.

Bad idea, you break up with her and that shit is going to get out! It can be used as a blackmail tool throughout your entire relationship! If you do this your asking for trouble

also be careful, any chick willing to do that on camera and put it out there probably has loose morale anyways. Don’t be surprised if you don’t come home from work one afternoon to see the grill going while she gets nailed by some backyard bros on the patio furniture
