Seriously considering moving to Central America.

I’m 45. Looking back at my life I do something crazy or major about every 7-8 years. Wether moving across the country, joining the military after a break up or more things I’m not even thinking about now. Just went through another tough break up and I’m seriously considering moving to a tropical climate outside the USA.

I have land and have been building a homestead in a popular, southern state. I hate to throw all that away and I would desperately miss my animals. Dogs would be coming with though. You’re a dirtbag to abandon a dog, but I digress.

I’ve been to Costa Rica before and loved it. Felt safe and felt like somewhere I could actually live. I originally moved back home to be closer to my immediate family. They are seriously some of the best humans on the entire planet. And while I’ve never been made to feel like a black sheep, I just kinda feel like my destiny is elsewhere. I spent time at sea in my 20s and I sorta feel like it’s calling me back.

I would be happy operating a dinghy and catching fish for seaside restaurants. I would be moving there with nothing other than about $100k. What are your thoughts? What do I need to know before pulling the trigger on an international move and flipping the bird to my rear view mirror? I’m not bitter or anything. Just a guy that likes to make drastic changes when I feel the need. I like feeling legendary for not being afraid to do wild shit like moving to a 3rd or 2nd world country lol. I fucking hate the spirit of those people afraid to leave the nest or their hometown. They are not my people.

What do I need to know before seriously delving into this?

I think your money would go further and quality of life infinitely better in SE Asia.

Yeah, strikes me as a beautiful place to visit but not necessarily stay.

Of course Country Club - if it felt like home to you, then follow your gut.

Gonna make my 2nd Chinese Medicine reference today (and officially meet my quota for 2025): you should look up the 8 year cycle of life for men in Chinese Medicine (it's a 7 year cycle for women...because, well...as I like to say "a woman's mind is cleaner...she changes it more often."...I made that last part up).

Regardless, when I thought back on my life I was like "holy shit....almost exactly every 8 years some decently big life event/transition happened for me." Wonder wtf life holds in store for me next.

TL;DR - the every 8 year thing may not be as random as you may have thought.

A whole 'nother TRT is available in Costa Rica. Originally thought this was a joke but pretty sure OP was serious.

Just sayin.

And don't tell me I haven't been consistent.

I like your spirit @Country Club Hero. Live well!

Bro,.as much as I am dying to read these T-nation posts, I am not risking signing up for another board...lol.

You have definitely been consistent in the short time I've been here.
