Dostinex Horniness

Hello,

I have been taking 0.25 mg of Dostinex once per week for a few weeks now with the aim of regulating my prolactin, which has been chronically elevated since a young age (I am 28 years old, have been off everything for years now, good hormonal panel – 800s TT, E2 in the 21–30s...). The issue is that in all my bloodwork since I was 18, my prolactin has been off the charts, ranging from 20 to 36 many times, with the top range for men being 16–19 ng/dL.

I don't know why this happens, and my endocrinologist gave it zero importance. I haven’t had serious issues though, just occasional ED and a long refractory period.

After a couple of weeks on Dostinex, I feel so terribly horny and sexual that it’s unsettling. My refractory period has improved significantly, as well as erections and general wellbeing — especially during the few days after I take the dose.

I think I’m going to keep taking it for 2–3 months and then do bloodwork to see if prolactin has downregulated on its own for good.

I just wanted to share because it seems like prolactin has been holding me back for a long time, and now I’m really noticing the difference. I don't know if it was due to previous AAS use since I was 18 (around 3–4 cycles) or naturally high prolactin, but this is being a game changer for me. Any ideas about what was happening to me?

I mean.... What else did you expect from punching down your prolactin?

Do you have a Prolactinoma?

Usually people taking caber want to achieve that (sex drive) but also have a better wellbeing and prevent lactating

Nope, I don’t have a prolactinoma. The endocrinologist said prolactin levels are way higher in those cases, mine’s barely anything.

If you take dostinex having appropiate levels of prolactine you should not feel anything, in fact, too low prolactine levels are bad too. So if I responded so well to the medication is because I actually needed that.

If you feel like your libido is too high why not lower the dose then?
Otherwise i am not sure what answer you are looking for as you answered your own question kind of?

I just wonder if this horny effect is due to the medication itself or that I had a real previous issue with prolactin.

Sounds like a mix of both. Your medication is working and Prolactin hammering your Sex drive down. Have you noticed any mental clarity too? When i run into high prolactine i get crazy brain fog.

Maybe dapoxetine too, the ssri that supposedly makes you last forever
I'm not saying that I've tried dapoxetine, but what I can tell you is that out of the 3 common ssri-based medicines that supposedly make you last longer, dapoxetine is the best by a wide margin.

It has so much less side effects, and is out of your system fast.

And oh, it makes you last a lot longer too.

As someone who identifies as an idiot
lol don’t be mean to yourself, man. You’re stuck with yourself for the rest of your life. Don’t be your own antagonist!!

does that mean even if your prolactin isn't low to start with, taking cabergoline to decrease prolactin has a positive impact, from a sexual perspective?
Based on the studies, yeah.

Some people cite studies showing low prolactin is anti-sexual. However, that is in men with organically low prolactin; not pharmacologically low prolactin.

In other words, if your prolactin is naturally low, you’re probably ill in general, and are therefore more likely to have sexual dysfunction.

If Caber lowers prolactin and increases sexual drive, why doesn't P5P increase sexual drive?

this is what ChatGPT says:

Yes — P5P (pyridoxal-5′-phosphate), the active form of vitamin B6, can lower prolactin levels in certain situations.

Here’s why:

  • Vitamin B6 (especially in its active form, P5P) is a cofactor in the synthesis of dopamine.
  • Dopamine acts as the body’s natural prolactin-inhibiting factor, meaning it suppresses prolactin secretion from the pituitary gland.
  • Several studies (mostly older ones) have shown that vitamin B6 supplementation — particularly at higher doses — can reduce elevated prolactin levels (hyperprolactinemia).
That said:

  • The effect depends on the cause of high prolactin (for example, drug-induced vs pituitary tumor). P5P may help in mild or functional elevations, but not as much in structural causes like prolactinomas.
  • Dosing matters: low doses may not be effective, while high doses (hundreds of mg/day) risk neuropathy with long-term use.
  • Clinical use is not as common now, since dopamine agonist drugs (like cabergoline or bromocriptine) are much more effective and predictable.
