300mg magnesium glycinate just before bed has been extending my sleep by about 2 hours each night.
I take that now and still it’s like clockwork 4-5 hours I wake. No matter what. Then it takes a couple hours to fall back to sleep. Been that way for years.

FWIW, I just switched to Magnesium Threonate, and ended up sleeping much longer. It's the only type of magnesium that crosses the blood brain barrier, raising levels in the brain by 15%.

It's too early to say if that was the reason for the extra hours of sleep (beyond glycinate), but I'll let you know after a week or so.

Here's how it works for you who don't know.

1. Send in a clean, detailed list of what you want with the product name, and the item number and how many.

2. He will send you back the price with the appropriate shipping charge/place with the best chance of success and a BTC address in a secure link.

3. Click the link, get the address, and pay the BTC.

4. Send the payment info and shipping address.

5. Unless there is an issue, you will not hear anything for 3-7 days or so.

6. You will get a tracking #(s)

7. The tracking numbers, especially if they are for UAE, will take 4-10 days to show as active.

8. From that point on watch the tracking. If the package gets stuck for a long time " IE 12 or more days" once it starts moving, contact him for instructions.

9. Be polite and respectful always.
Got it. Thanks

I will try that one as well. Let me hit up Amazon right quick. I can certainly tell that I’m in a deeper sleep when I take the magnesium. Just cant stay asleep. I will give this one a go too.

I felt groggy and dehydrated, which is a sign of excess Magnesium, so this type might be much more bioavailable for me than even glycinate.

If you're in the US and a costco member they have a good deal online for the Sports Research brand of it.

Also what I notice is that my blood pressure drops even more when I’m consistently taking magnesium.

@SBD1

Even the glycinate at them levels have me making love to the porcelain throne.

Beat me to it!

Luckily I maintain a healthy supply of Roku Loparamide from PCT24x lol. (Yes I know it's an inexpensive OTC, but the version from PCT 24 is 90% less, the faster acting and more effective capsule form you usually only get with a prescription, not in annoying child proof packaging, and has a very long shelf life).

Crazy thing about this Magnesium Threonate is I seem to "feel" it all day. Something like Propronolol's calming effect. Very interesting stuff. Some initial studies show it also increases hair count for those with alopecia, male or female.

Now that’s interesting. I use propranolol for things like dentist visits or when I have to give presentations at work. Never had issues with that until the last few years. I pop about 30mg and I’m in the calmest of moods. I will give this magnesium a try.

I'm not used to a supplement being this "active" in terms of discernible effects.

I've gotten a little from glycinate before bed. This has been like a more pronounced, all day calming effect.

I wasn't looking for something with an anti-anxiety effect, it was the potential cognitive boost I was primarily interested in.

But now I see that's part of the package of reported effects, and there are quite a few people out there saying it cured their anxiety,

If this is the only form of magnesium that makes it into the brain in significant quantities, it does seem quite plausible. Especially since magnesium deficiency within brain tissue is apparently widespread.

Here's a good overview:

Right on... what brand/mg did you get for the Gabapentin? I have the 800mg tablets and have to break them in to 1/4s (~200mg). Half (~400mg) is too much still for sleeping. :P
Gabasign 300. I take 2 so 600 mg. My wife had a perscription for gabapentin and she said the ones from 24x7 work better.

I ordered some too. Never used it before. I don’t have a problem falling asleep my problem is staying asleep. I wake up at about 4 hours no matter what.
Same for me get 4 hours on the dot then wide awake. Trying Trazodone now but it’s same as most things I’ve tried. Puts me to sleep even though I don’t have a problem falling asleep. But doesn’t keep me asleep.

Have you tried eszopiclone? It's the longest acting of the Z class sleeping drugs.

Roughly for a full dose:

Zaleplon: 1 hour
Zopiclone: 4-6 hours
EsZopiclone: 6-8 hours
