Beginner on Test-Only-Cycle - Bloodwork Question

Hi-

I have my recent bloodwork for my TRT program, but it doesnt include some panels for thyroid, lipids etc. I am already a week into the cycle. Is it ok to keep going and do mid-cycle bloodwork and make that more comprehensive? I know it's not ideal and I should have done the comprehensive before I suspect.

This week I went to 250mg of T, from 160mg, and I am 2 IU of GH. I do intend to do this correctly and safely, so just wondering about this and how best to proceed?

Is there a book or e-book anyone could recommend that I could study to get fully up to speed on this type of thing - this is all new.

Thank you,

If I understand you correctly, this is your second week on trt and you already went up in dose, and you don't have full blood panel. I'm not sure how correctly or safe that is.

It also seems you added HGH along with TRT without testing test only. Unless there's some information I'm missing about your timeline, all of this contradict your statement above. Do you have your igf-1 levels?

Why start things if you're that unsure on what to do? Honestly, I highly doubt any book or video will help. You're already being too sporadic. Hopefully I'm wrong about your timeline.

Anyway, stop changing doses, just wait the 6 weeks and get a full panel to see what your levels are at and adjust from there. Unless you have existing conditions and you're not healthy, you can wait.

Hi-

Apologies, I may have been unclear. I have been on TRT since Jan. During my recent consultation with my provider (petermd) the T dose was bumped up. I will hold myself accountable too - after talking to a number of people in this space, I was recommended to start low with HGH which is what I did.

My honest accountability is that I did think I had enough numbers on the blood work, but after some of the great advice here already (thanks @bigMoJo), I understand I need to get a much more in-depth blood panel which I am intending to get as soon as I can this week - hopefully tomorrow.

I do not intend to change anything else, and am suitably cautious that I did not have the blood panel beforehand - I just had what my doctor gave me, which was apparently enough for the TRT provider to still mix things up…..thats a learning opportunity for me which I will embrace.

I would consider very heakthy. Before I went on TRT I have been getting lots of check-ups with my doctors across a number of things over the past few years and I have always had excellent numbers across the board - but still a little high level I will admit. I once had a problem with my lipids but I was heavy carnivore, and after a deeper research into that I believe the scare from the doctor to jump on statins was based on his insurance protocol and ignorance. People think I am in my 30’s when I am 50. That said, I am not stupid - I know what lies beneath is what matters.

I am intending to become a lot more data driven as of this past weekend.

I appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts, thank you.

That makes more sense. Your first post was a bit confusing, I'm glad I was wrong in my assumption.

All in all, I think it's worth to just stick to bloodwork after the 6-8 week mark. This way your levels are stable and you know your new baseline. Especially since you have no health concerns.

There is no one right or safe way to do what you are doing Different "experts" have different opinions. I find reading from various sources seeing what may be a common denominator is a good start. And things that may apply more to you or the lifestyle that you have choose to live can be applied to what you think is best.
At the doses you are doing waiting till mid cycle for more in depth testing would be fine.
