Telmisartan is one of the most effective ARBs for lowering systolic and diastolic blood pressure. It has a 24 hour half life and provides around the clock coverage. As far as ARBs go its effectiveness in lowering BP only comes 2nd to Azilsartan. It does improve myocardial remodeling so he’s not wrong about that. And it does have kidney protection benefits but so do a lot of BP meds.@BamaCrazy @BP_6 Thanks for the feedback! Much appreciated. I asked my coach the same thing. My BP is already normal to low, why am I supposed to take this?
This is his response “it is a blood pressure med, but that is not why we use it, it doesn’t do a great job lowering and managing blood pressure to that degree.we use it because it doesn’t a wonderful job preventing cardiac remodeling. We get other health benefits from it like preventing left ventricle hypertrophy and kidney and brain health, not really for BP.”
I am reluctant to take it. Idk. What do you all think of that response?
I’m not sure why he’d say that.
