recent bloodwork help

52 puts you in Stage 3a which is a good distance away from Stage 4 (15-29). I just checked my labs for DEC, JAN, FEB and May. My eGFR was 73, 67, 70 and 60. 60 is borderline. I better keep an eye on that.
the more research i do the better i am feeling about this, as it appears to be manageable now that i am catching this early, i messaged my pcp about jardiance or farxiga, hes pretty good at getting back to me in a timely manner, ,

Did you ever get your cystatin-c down?

Blasting gear raises mine by .2 or so.

no it has actually went up a few points , i have posted recent results a few posts back, im waiting to see a kidney specialist for further diagnosis,,
What was your uACR numbers? Any proteins on your urine?

Btw, any symptoms you experienced or any indication on what caused the regression of kidney functions?

i haven't noticed any symptoms regarding decreased kidney function, unless the frequent urinating at night is something, but i do drink water before bed so that could be it,, IMG_0649.webp

It went up after you dropped the gear and I assume got your BP under 120/80?

So it's a genetic thing?
i guess genetics could be playing a role in this, i just have to wait and really get some answers when i talk to the kidney specialist,, but yes bp is in check etc, and honestly the only thing that alerted me tothis was the initial high Cystatin c test, then we took these other tests,,

this is all so confusing, as my numbers aren't really bad , accept for the high Cystatin c and low Egfr, all other kidney markers aren't to bad unless i missing something,, im very hopeful we caught this early enough to actually make a difference, i know the damage is done , but i believe its going to be manageable moving forward,,

Good luck brother, I hope the damage isn’t too serious.

I also have slight elevation on my creatinine recently and small amount of albumin in pee, thus doing a re test next week.

So none of the other typical symptoms of Stage 3? Fatigue, weakness, insomnia, dark colored urine, edema or lower back pain?
the only thing is i have not been getting much deep sleep , like 20-30 minutes average, i pee the correct color throughout the day, no back pain whatsoever, fatigue seems to catch me late afternoon , but really no symptoms to speak of , , its really confusing,,

My cystatin c has dropped record low with astragulus root. 0.69 mg/l was the last reading. I've been blasting the whole time.

Brother good luck with this, i hope too you got it early and from now on you'll avoid any further damage.

I'm planning on doing my first cystatin c test soon, in my country this test seems to be rare and kinda special. Every time i order full kidney panel it mainly contains albumin, urea and creatinine. Not even e-gfr on creatinine.

This time i specifically asked the lab for cystatin c, apparently they've never done it before and the price is like 4x the total test. Anyway, my creatinine is hovering between 0,9 and 1,1 but I'd like to get a better picture of kidney function.

Regarding astragalus as some guys mentioned, it's a great tool for prevention but once the damage is done it can't do much and in many cases I've read that doctors do not allow it's use because it may do things worse. Perhaps this goes for the ones with greater damage when filtration problems are severe.

howmuch is the dose of Astragulus root? do you take it day or night?
The brand I use contains per 2 capsules:
Astragalus root extract 1400 mg (of which polysaccharides 700 mg)

I take 3x2 a day (6 total). I have three supplement containers I go through everyday so I divide up most of my supps.

I probably got the dosing from Steve's site:

The Dose really depends on the decline of Kidney Function, unlike others, with Astragalus Root Extract Supplementation; MORE IS BETTER!

Pretty bad news, but definitely consult more than one doctor. The good thing is that you don't excrete a lot of albumin in your urine and if you take measures it shouldn't progress, but only time will tell.

What exactly did the ultrasound show? Is the diagnosis based entirely on EGFR?

Astragalus root 8g(4g am/pm) a day raised my EGFR from 63 to 101 and stayed there. If you have stomach problems, fix them, if you take NSAIDs or PPIs you should stop them, they damage the kidneys.

it says " cortical echgenicity is increased" echgenic kidneys which can indicate renal disease, idk , i am not gonna freak out about it and just wait until i talk to the kidney specialist, this is all preliminary imo, something to take note of and hopefully this specialist can help, ,

So my recent calcium score came in at @13 , not bad for a 50+ man that has been less than "kind" to his body until the last 15 years , so still waiting on the " kidney specialist" , but have upped my water as well as upped the Astragulus, dropped a few unnecessary "supplements" , , will update soon,,

What has your doc suggested to help with your kidneys?
I see alot of discussion on this forum for liver -- not much on kidneys (the irony being that the liver can regrow but the kidney cant)

From what I've gathered
-- keep bp controlled
-- take a SGLT2
-- take a GLP
-- astragulus root

Anything else I missed?

There's a relatively new drug (Finerenone for CKT in T2D patients) but other than that I don't see much medication for kidney failure?
