Training in the early AM vs in the PM

I train every morning before work after a light mixed meal (mainly protein + carbs)

Sometimes I go back for a second session after lunch

Bonus if you take preworkout, get the benefits of increased intensity without messing up your sleep if you took it at night

In the evenings I prefer to relax, better for sleep

But you are not training at full potential or it make sense if u are tryng to have a greater fat oxidation percentage
Btw like the other guy said it isnt an attack of course but i dont understand the statement
I understand that but all I am saying is that again.. I'd rather PR on no carbs and know it's all my strength.. What's not to understand

Studies point to people being at their strongest in the mid-late afternoon for the most part. As the CNS needs time to get up to speed and fuel is more available after a couple meals. Pro athletes don't jump out of bed ready to compete. I have always trained when i had the most/best time available.

I used to do my workout 2 hours after breakfast. But this split my day up too much.

I started doing fasted workouts right after my morning coffee. I found it worked well, but after a few months the cumulative fatigue got to me and I was exhausted. Maybe the metabolic mechanisms during a fasted workout generate more long-term fatigue.

I now have my coffee, about 2 litres of water, 100 calories of fruit, wait about 30 minutes, then do my workout. I’m happy with this for now.

I then do a smaller workout in the evening before dinner.

In my younger days I would do evening workouts. As I have gotten older, it has become an uphill battle. I feel the dings and sprains of everyday life a little more. Today as the day wears away so does my motivation and energy.

Morning workouts seem to jump start my metabolism and get me mentally prepared for the day. Most importantly, IMHO, a guaranteed workout is better than an 80% chance I’ll get to it later.

On a practical note, like most people I am dehydrated when I wake up. And since I do some form of cardio after every workout, I drink a lot of water between sets. Not enough to feel bloated but enough so I don’t feel like I’m playing catch up all day.
That first paragraph… I felt that… haha.

My workouts that start from between 7-9am tend to be 10x more focused than anything from noon on. Getting that pump in seems to make the rest of the day a bit easier too.

I’m at the gym by 630 am usually, it sets a tone for the day and mellows me out. I have to eat something before or I get a little woozy towards the end of the workout. I usually just smash some protein pancakes or cream of wheat.

I noticed a more fat burning effect while i was training early AM during covid. Kind of like a “ fasted cardio “ feeling. I do notice I have more strength working out PM, probably something to do with having a few meals in me by then, protein, carbs, fuel? Or maby it’s just in my head IDK.
Yeah there’s absolutely zero logic to “fat burning effect” that makes absolutely zero sense. But yeah. Usually a few meals before a workout is beneficial for strength

I was burning fat faster while working out early on an empty stomach . Its like I was on a cut, but wasn’t trying to be . Does that make any sense to you? Don’t really know what you don’t understand about what I said.

You do understand losing weight is directly from the amount of calories you intake, not whether you work out when the clock says PM or AM ?
What is this place coming to….

I’ve tried both, and evening workouts feel way better for me. By the evening, you’ve got food, carbs, electrolytes, body’s just more ready to push. Mornings were rough… I can’t train fasted, so I’d have to wake up super early just to eat and digest. Total pain. Tried carb-loading at night too, but didn’t really help, still felt half-asleep at the gym. That said, if you’re too wiped after work, early training might be worth testing

Agree having a couple meals & plenty hydration before working out is much more productive imo

But if your only other choice is after work, close to bedtime, which can be bad for sleep, I'd go with a morning workout after a light meal

Gainz go to shit if you're not sleeping well
