did blood work couple of weeks ago..requested testosterone level work be done….he asked where are you getting your trt therapy from?
i said i am self medicating and taking 1mg of masteron prop every three days
he said oh….well be careful

results came back….everything good except ldl at 140 (taking statins) and estrodiol 100

wants to test again in 7 weeks….instructions were to decrease test to 250 mg once a week…was at 750 to a gram a week….advised do the last shot 7 days before blood work

my point is i was nervous about disclosing my ped use…..(i am 57 so been there and done that…) but he was professional and helpful in his response…

so are you guys open to your ped use with your doc???

I essentially have two primary care docs, one that is a concierge doc and I am incredibly open with everything I am doing. He coordinates all my bloodwork and whenever possible will prescribe whatever he can to the compounding pharmacies that I choose and pay to get prescriptions so that we can be more sure of quality (peptides/steroids/etc). We do not put anything at all through insurance so it stays off my general medical record, except for AAS which obviously has to go through the DEA database.

My other primary care doctor is a "normal" one who honestly is pretty good, and I just have in case I ever have something I'd prefer to go through insurance. I tell him most of the prescriptions I'm on but keep actual anabolic use vague, just give him my basic labs and let him know that I do push performance vectors. In his mind I think he believes it's just high dose TRT.

I do that purely by choice to avoid having anything in my medical/insurance record that I do not want, don't want to be labeled a "drug user" if God forbid I ever need a transplant or something of the like.

If I was not able to have the concierge doc though I would likely try to find a primary care doctor I felt comfortable being pretty upfront with. They definitely exist and having a smart doctor you can trust in your corner is a resource that can't be overestimated.

…..i posted this thread because my gut feeling is that a large percentage of people that are on peds do not disclose their use to their doctor….why?? because i didn’t until asked…. any ways ….i feel somewhat relieved that i did discuss my use and i feel that i will be the better for it

I am pretty open with all my doctors about what I do. They know I blast test. They know I self-manage trt. It's really fine they should be able to still treat you from a harm reduction standpoint.

I don't get into details about all of the other stuff I do because they don't have a knowledge base about it.

What matters most is your health markers, blood pressure, bloodwork, etc.

I don't need anything in my medical record showing use. My doctor is essentially a yearly partial bloodwork and cialis dispensing machine. I'm sure if my blood pressure or cholesterol got out of control she'd put me on a random med to treat it.

I tell my doctor and he is helpful about dealing with blood work concerns. Even though I have only had very bad alt/ast once after having COVID and preparing for a powerlifting meet, he gave good advice about getting it back to normal asap. Because everything is basically in range, just slightly skewed lipids, we don’t have much to talk about. The guy is pretty chill though when Im on tren and we do blood work of course he always says I should take 2-4 weeks off of that if I want my liver values to go back to normal. That being said gear is legal here, and does not effect my insurance or medical costs.

disagree …i would hope your doctor is capable of addressing all ped use…if not ….. he/she would be able to recommend someone who can jmo

Yes. I have a younger Dr. in the Bay Area of California, so he's very into harm reduction. He said he viewed it as a good learning experience for him. He writes whatever blood work I want, prescribes blood pressure meds and a statin as needed and writes me a phlebotomy order. He also wrote me a rx for Viagra when I fucked around and crushed my E2 once. :p I never feel judged and he's thoughtful and thorough....as any Dr. should be.

I discuss it with my pc, but hes cluless on the subject of peds and would never be in on elevated anything. I work with a published prefessional coach and trust his judgements. At the end of the day, it's on me.

I just tell my doctors that I used to do a lot of drugs including PEDs. Most general practice folks have very little of the in depth knowledge on this subject to actually be helpful. There's nothing they can say that won't show up in a google search 90% of the time.

I found a TRT clinic where the overseeing physician works with a lot of former bodybuilders. He prescribed me 200mg and suggested we can maybe bump a little higher if it felt like my test levels weren't supporting my lifestyle. Only problem is he won't prescribe it if you're using anything else. So you can either go to him for a nice sports TRT or just pay him to run and review your bloodwork.

There are a lot of great doctors in the world, but there are also a lot of old school guys who don't know a single thing other than do a test and prescribe an antibiotic. As someone said above, I have a doctor I use with insurance who plays by the book. And I have a guy I pay cash that I'm fully open with.
