Had multiple oil outs with pretty much every combo of solvents possible. Easy to crash out when full of shit, but once the impurities were gone just oil out everytime. Came to a compromise with a solution that was almost there and needed cold methanol and smash tech to get it there. But shouldn't be so hard just because of the extra tail. Looking for other experiences not an AI interpretation of what should work.
When I share thoughts like this, I don’t rely on AI to interpret everything I’m saying....bro... I’ve had experience doing this myself. When I first wrote that thread, I did use AI quite a bit to help spark ideas
mainly because I wasn’t as experienced yet with recrystallization or chemistry.
But the foundation of my thinking was still my own.From what you’ve described, it sounds very similar to what I went through when working with longer-acting esters.
For example, testosterone decanoate behaves more like testosterone undecanoate than cypionate, and even enantate is closer in behavior to those two. This is coming from experience of using these eraws and trying to get some samples
ased on what you’re saying, it sounds like there’s an impurity preventing crystallization and depressing the melting point. If that’s the case, I’d recommend exploring a liquid–liquid extraction followed by salting out.....My reasoning is that if the melting point is being suppressed and the compound isn’t crystallizing properly, it’s likely that the impurities are staying with the main compound instead of separating. Performing a liquid extraction with an immiscible solvent and introducing a mild base to wash the solution can help remove those contaminants....I’ve had to do this in a few worst‑case situations, and it worked well. ....go above where I show the worst case ...You don’t need to process everything at . At this stage, recrystallization likely won’t be effective until the main contaminants are removed first.
Do you know what contaminets your even removing? If it's a color then that almost always points to the ester been naughty and reactive ..now it's giving a ugly color in the mother liquid and also staying with the raws. Assuming you're going to be facing a very similar issue that I experienced with testosterone E.....
The fact your saying it's crashing out and not really acting right tells me something has a lower melting point than your target API.
That makes it even more tricky because no matter what solvent you decide to choose it's going to go right along side your API.....now you need a different method to tackle the problem
Yeah now you got to worry about getting rid of the moisture with the solvents that I mentioned the liquid liquid extraction but you will get closer to your goal of recrystallizing properly
Maybe you will find it's too labor intensive I mean it is pretty f****** annoying. But you did say you tried many solvent systems and you're going to find nothing you choose is going to work.....trust me...

Actually kind of think of it there's a brute force method you can attempt that I've experimented with and it does work
So rather than worrying about getting something to crash out you could do it at progressive kind of style
So essentially what you could do is get something to crash out collect that rinse and repeat dry it out then crash it out again and just keep progressively going through it because eventually you're going to be getting a pure crop from it
Now this is assuming that your API is crashing out first of course and I'm sure you know that..... But it is technically one way to brute Force this
Even though it's not crashing out right if it's going to crash out first and you're able to get something if you just do it enough times...you will get something super pure out of the lot.... It just takes more work but it technically is one way to get to where you want to be
Just don't make a mistake to ever trash out your mother liquid because almost always in all cases you're going to contain a lot of your product in that mother liquid along with the purities so you can always squeeze out more if you're yield is low. .....
So rather than worrying about getting something to crash out you could do it at progressive kind of style

Sending stuff for testing while experimenting like this is a huge time delay and gap in progress. Calculating concentration of raw materials isn't that difficult or expensive. UV VIS is not that complicated to learn and the best investment I have made. It's useless for clarification because all steroids except tren absorb in-between 230 to 260nm but beer lambert calculations and calibration curves are very accurate for quantitative analysis. Finished products you really need at least HPLC but for this it is perfect and you can get a cheap one that scans 200 to 800nm wavelengths for a few hundred bucks. I picked up a refurbished agilant 8453 with chemstation software on a laptop for 2500 bucks and thats overkill .

Oh you will need a really good balance, F1 calibration weights. Good calibrated micropipettes and decent collection of volumetric flasks.
you should offer service to those who need it when you feel comfortable we need more options in this space.

After i build calibration curves for my entire list I planned on offering free testing for a while just to build reps and experience. Preferably for people also sending it out so I can compare my results accuracy . I've only had this for about 6 months and just starting to get really comfortable..
I'd love to give you my samples for you to collect. Your idea is a dream I actually have been planning out myself for quite a while Made quite a few friends who share similar ideas so. I'm going to assume you found your machine on lab x or something similar. Used offerering. Was it hard to get it to work again or did it just work straight out??
My main concern of buying a refurbished unit or a used one is it's going to take quite a bit of repair to get it back up to good condition but just going to assume that you found a good one that didn't take much work
Lot of these things come with manuals too sometimes they're lost
Also licensing for some of the software is a bit of a issue there's an open source one though it's pretty good.
I almost sprung upon a machine. Really getting testing in house sounds like a great opsec work around too. Can't beat doing it all yourself!
