The Passion of The Christ

I just got back from seeing the Mel Gibson film "The Passion Of The Christ." It was an amazing movie. What Jesus went through on the way to the cross cannot be explained with words.

I am going tomorrow.... Have heard nothing but amazing things about it...

Ive gotta go see it. Not sure when Jewel and I will go, maybe Mon or Tues.

I know this isnt an entertainment type movie, but it did score $27 million just on opening day!

Please, as you all go see this movie come back to this thread and tell us all what you though of the movie! Again I though it was amazing!

I went to see it the other night and it is quite intense. This was the first time I have left a movie theatre where the audience was in complete silence. I was considering taking my kids (ages 9 and 12) before I saw it, but the violence and suffering are just too real for them at that age, though I would love for them to experience the message. I consider myself to be a passionate, practicing (though sinful) Christian, so I don't think it was a "life-altering" experience for me. But I'm sure it will change lives and I'm very glad Gibson got his message out in this film. I would have preferred to see a little more history on the life of Jesus and less violence, but was still a great movie. And yes I did shed a few tears (there is one scene in particular that grabs you), but most of all I wanted to get out of my seat and beat the shit out of the Roman soldiers for what they did to him (not a very Christian thought I know).

Which church Hogg? As a pastor of a church, I hope you do not put all churches in the same catagory!

Whats up fellas. I saw it last night with my girlfriend. I'll explain it to u how I just explained it to my friends. If you are a Christian (wich both of us are) the movie will make you understand totally what physical and mental aguish Jesus went through for us. I swear I could almost feel the beatings he was getting..Its unexplainable. Mel Gibson did a great job of bringing the audience into the movie. I do not think that I could wach it again but it was definatly worth it. When the movie was over I felt like I was leaving a church after a funeal mass..U could have heard a pin drop! Mel is the man!

Hogg, did you ever find a local church that fit what you want in one? I know we chatted about it a while back.

You can have them experience that message everyday by being the best Christian you can be. You have the greatest influence over them right now, and if they see how you act, and it's honorable, they will want to be just like you when they grow up. I know, cuz that's the way my father was.

There was only one person who was without sin and he died for yours.

It was an amazing film, gibson needs to direct more. Instead of just shooting a movie, he hasa very artistic sense and is good at creating mood and feeling on screen, hes done this with braveheart too. After seeing the movie I never saw how people are saying the movie was antisemetic, it was a jew who helped him with the cross, a jew that wiped jesus face, even a few of the jewish pharisees were sticking up for jesus, and obviously jesus apostles were jews. I think that the jewish community was initially worried the film would create antisemetic feelings but then everyone jumped on the ban wagon and began calling the film antisemetic.

You make a very good point SteveMac. But we cannot forget the fact that it was Jews and Romans that crucified Christ. There are no two ways around it. Facts are facts!

Now that people have had a chance to actually see the movie, hopefully all this anti-semitism crap will come to an end. Everyone was debating about it long before they even saw the movie.

I think Mel is a great actor and amazing director. Braveheart, The Patriot, The Passion. And as hes said in some of his interview, it really is a small. Not some huge budget project. In his words, he "knows how to make it look big."

exactly..I didnt think it was antisemetic at all...just told the story of the crusifiction...I was more pissed at the drunk roman soldiers who wouldnt stop beating him and mocking him, than I was at the jews...Its always about poor me..poor us..instead of talking about the true meaning of the film..Kinda makes me sick.
