Why?
Why? I find his stuff pretty informative.
He just rubs me the wrong way, just one of those things..
Don't tell me that's you calvare!! [)]
Unless you're a powerlifter squatting huge weight, you don't need them. One of the mistakes I made when I was younger was to reach for the belt and straps to fast. You begin to rely on them. You want you tendons and core to strengthen with the rest of your body.
chalk may help. I use mixed grip. Part of the problem is I telescoped my left wrist in a car accident. FYI putting you hands out to stop you when the driver hits a telephone pole at 50 MPH doesn't work.

So what is an older guy that's abused his already shitty knees for years supposed to do? My knees have started to sound like I'm twisting a T-bone steak between two pairs of pliers when I squat, and it's putting a serious limit on the weights that my muscles are capable of. I just ordered wraps on the advice of the ol' lady who was actually paying attention to sports medicine practices while I was screwing off. She said that sleeves probably aren't going to help at this point, and I'm inclined to agree. Thoughts?
Are you doing leg extensions?

I'm an older guy too. I say your situation is much different. You're working around an injury and you need to do what you need to do to lift.
