hey fellas, so ive always brewed with GSO. However ive been reading alot about MCT Lately and i am very interested in it as a carrier oil in my brews. Also i will be using (EO) Ethyle Oleate in my brews this time this so any suggestions there are greatly appreciated but the Question is can i use 100% Organic Coconut Oil?? Ive seen a few different references when i comes to MCT so im a bit confused on if what ive purchased is correct. When i bought it at the HEB it was 90% solution THE ONLY ONE THAT WAS, the rest were a solid form, so i bought the one that was in solution form in hopes of it being the best suited...IDK though, need help please??

no that doesnt sound pleasant...K so ill leave that for cooking i guess...i wasnt sure if adding EO, to the correct ratio of BA to BB would make brewing with Coconut Oil Possible mghoward74?...i have read about FRACTIONATED Coconut Oil as well...Kk so what type if MCT Oil would yall recommend?

I'm starting my first homebrew. I would use wallnut oil that i have heard great things about. But what i don't know is can i use an oil that is supposed to be for cooking?
I know it goes through filter and sterilises it, but i'm asking just to be a 100% sure.

Most MCT oil is fractionated coconut oil. Even if it doesn't say so. The longer chain triglycerides are mostly what's responsible for pure coconut oil solidifying.
Solvent potentcy is close enough to other carrier oils. If stronger solvent is needed use guiacol or EO.

I'm hot real sure... I've only made standard concentrations. I don't think it would be as good as thicker oils for higher concentration brews.

Oil viscosity has no correlation on solvent ability. At times, depending on experience with different oils it may seem so, but it is not always true.

I home brew exclusively and this is what I find to be correct. I've tried 5 oils now, all of them seem to max out around the same mg/ml concentrations at my skill and expertise level.

Coconut oil can be used. I know of a good UGL that uses coconut oil as a carrier and it flows quickly and smoothly through a 27ga pin. As to how he does it I don't know.

Who's this ugl you speak of?

I'll steer clear of them

Coconut oil goes from solid to liquid form quick and effortlessly. Imagine pinning it and in 2-3 minutes it solidifies in the muscle (cold weather climate especially)

Perhaps there is more in there than straight coconut oil then. Haven't seen anyone say their gear from that source crashed. I don't know shit about brewing.

If it isn't solidifying or crashing, then you have hydrogenated oil, which is shit on the heart and body.
Perhaps so. He claims it isn't MCT. I wonder would only a couple cc a week of hydrogenated really be that bad for the heart and body compared to say 17a methylated orals?
