i has this shit since i was 12-13 years old. im getting it done in a couple weeks thank god. im mid twenties and i never have gone shirtless in public. whats the few weeks after surgery like? will i miss work? gimme some good info bro's

Dude, peep my thread in the members pic forum.. I got it too when I was 12-13.. Belive me its humbleing... and I know i shouldnt preach to you as you know yourself... it aint cool, if you'd like I can post a pic in that thread which shows it pretty well. Imagine if you were holding a 100lbs ball on your back... having gyno surgery is like taking the ball off... ok that made no sense.. lol im tierd, gimme a break, but still... when I was 21, for the first time I was happy.. thats how I felt... i wish you all the best

Oh, btw... put evrerything you need lower than your waist... ironicly when I had it done, everythign I needed was above my head, which sucked... get two vacume vests cuz belive me, one will get pretty damn smelly after a while.. .they told me not to go back to the gym for a month.. I was back in after a week.. doing cardio... then after another week I was lifting lightly again... after another week i did chest for the first time. Pain meds are for pussies... I didnt need any pain meds... not one... ended up giving them to my brother.. just wear your vest, watch a lot of movies, ice it... im not sure what kind of work you do, but if its a desk job then you should be able to go to work.. at least after a few days.. just keep your vest on under your work attire. Drink lots of water, relax, watch movies, hang out with good friends.. and that should be it... you will be driving yourself insaine staying inside all those days so you better plan somthing outdoors once in a while.. like a walk or somthing. ok man

later

thanks for the tips man, my main concern was post surgery. i will go crazy without the gym. ill play it by ear and see how it goes

I had it from 12 - 13 as well. I had the surgery when I was 20 - best decision ever.

Post op wont be bad at all. You'll just be wasted on painkillers and the hangover from the anesthesia but after the first day it will just be a bit sore but you will be functional and within a day or two you should be able to go around doing normal things (Depending on what you do for work)

Some limited movement (just a little though) and depending on what the doc puts on you afterwards.. could be like an ace bandage type of thing to constantly apply pressure. All in all, not a bad experience at all. Def. worth it.

You'll be gald you did. Hit me up if you have any specifics

What is life like Post op? GREAT!!! I had to also live with the gyno beast since around age 15 or so. Finally had the surgery when 20. Anyone who goes thru that as a teenager knows that it's so hard to live a normal life. You live every second of every day in public worrying about it and trying your best to hide it. It's extremely humbling and discouraging at times :( Don't worry bro, pretty soon you're gonna get to live a normal life! I'm 22 now, go to the beach, wear normal shirts, go swimming and have my first girlfriend! (not to mention she's a BEAUTIFUL exotic filipina)

What is it like immediately post op? You'll have very little mobility in your arms for the first four days or so. You'll have to wear a compression vest 24 hours a day also. You can prolly start doing legs after 2-3 weeks, but I'd take it easy on the chest for 4 weeks or so at least; you don't wanna tear anything that's healing up, ya know? Also, the full swelling will not go down for weeks, so your chest will keep looking better as the weeks go past, so don't get discouraged post op! Also, be sure to make sure your doc is making incisions and not solely lipo; some skimp out and only do lipo or UAL, which will NOT remove all the glandular tissue...make sure he's gonna cut!

I made a very detailed post-op post here on Meso about 2 years ago including pics and a weekly description. I wish someone could dig it up from the archives and make it a sticky for all the guys with gyno to see. If any mod can look into this, I think it would be a nice benefit to the board.

Big recommendation, head over to http://www.alpinepharm.com and order some Sinecch. This stuff helps ALOT so you'll have minimal bruising. I had a rhinoplasty with my gyno surgery at the same time for my broken nose and had almost no bruising thanks to this stuff. My surgeon even recommended it to me. It's pretty cheap too; trust me, you'll thank yourself later during your recovery if you take this stuff.

Just for all you guys with gyno out there suffering, it can be fixed, and life does go on. I started as a 150 pound kid with natural gyno; now I'm about 218 and my dream is to become a plastic surgeon and specialize in gyno removal. I have ideas for a clinic, awareness seminars, etc. Physicians and teenage boys need to learn gyno can be stopped if they catch it early! There is such low awareness on this stuff. I'm in my 5th year of college, finishing up and taking the pre-med requirements now. I hope to take the MCAT next summer and apply to med schools. Wish me luck fellas. Sorry for the life story, I just want to help encourage all the bros out there who were in teh same boat as me. Hang in there fellas...life will get better. Georgie24, best of luck with your surgery. God bless...

Guys,

I too have gyno since I was young and it is very depressing because everyone knows I work out hard and they ask why I never take my shirt off. I should look forward to going to the beach but I don't. What I want to know is the average price range of the surgery and if insurance would cover it being that it was a pre-existing condition since my younger days. Also once the gyno is removed can it come back at all, I have heard diferent opinions. Any other advice would help because I think I finally want to get this depressing condition taken care of.

Costs I've heard are anywhere from $3k - $7k, depending on which surgeon you use and what location you live at. If you're near NYC, head straight to Dr. Bruce Nadler, www.drnadler.com . He has done over 1000 gyno surgeries, and has done alot of bodybuilders including Pro's. He charges about $6500 if I remember correctly. He is expensive, but is also the best.

Insurance companies generally do NOT cover gyno surgery anymore. Years ago, more of them used to, but now they rarely do. If there's any chance that yours will, go the doc and complain about PAIN. The keyword here is PAIN. Tell him it hurts when you lay down on stomach, hurts when it moves going up stairs, hurts when you hug someone, etc.! Like I said, most insurance companies in the US, do not cover it. If yours does, it will still be an uphill battle to get them to pay for it. In canada I beleive it is covered free of charge. I fought with my insurance company for almost a year before finally giving up and just getting it done and paying on my own.

As for it coming back, yes it can. Why? The surgeon leaves a button sized amount of glandular tissue behind the nipple to support it from caving in. This glandular tissue contains receptors which can still be activated. This is why, once you have the surgery always keep Nolvadex on hand. If you run cycles, just be careful what you run and always use plenty of arimidex, since you are naturally prone to gyno. For instance, I stopped using Deca b/c it can cause progesteronic gyno which has not been proven to be blocked by anti-e's. So, I switched to EQ which only converts to estrogen which can be easily inhibited by arimidex and blocked by nolvadex.
