your body can store carbs in muscle and store carbs as fat for later, your body can store fat. your body breaks down protein into amino acids and your muscle sucks them up, but your body does not convert amino acids into fat for later. your body will use carbs or fat for energy, carbs being the easiest to use at first, but than it will go after muscle, and when the muscle is used up it will finally use the fat. if your body stored amino acids we would never be in a catabolic state. I hope I explained that well. I'll be honest I'm not the best at explaining what I know.
