4 months of Nolvadex TRT -- results and more

I've been doing TRT for a long time (about 3 years...see this post) and found that out of everything I tried, Nolvadex alone worked the best for me.

I've been on Nolvadex at 20mg/day for the last 4 months and just got my latest round of labs. Just wanted to share:

Albumin: 4.8 (3.7-5.1)
SHBG: 16 (5-49)
Total T: 567 (241-827)
Free T: 179 (34-194)
Testosterone, Free and Weakly Bound: 391 (84-402)
Estradiol aka E2: 16 (13-54)
LH: 6.8 (1.5-9.3)
DHT: 26 (25-75)

My only complaint with this arrangement is that my libido has been pretty low and sporadic. I've been able to recover it some of it by using an herbal preparation (mostly goat weed).

interesting Sonny, numbers like that show that libido is not about good testosterone and e2 numbers,

going on test trt would be a tough balancing act to even get numbers optimized like that, and I bet libido and especially sexual function would be worse

looks to me like a nolvadex only hrt is a pretty good choice to make, no injections, healthy numbers, minimal side effects from what I've seen (there may be health risks to consider, but there are with any type of hrt)

Hi chap: I'm pretty sure that the low DHT is a big factor. There are times (and I don't know why) where my DHT will swing up into the mid 40's and that seems to have a very positive effect on libido.

You're right though about the balancing act. I've tried many combinations of things and getting it all to work was very difficult. Nolvadex has been super easy and convenient. Every form of HRT that i have tried has had drawbacks, but this one seems to have the lowest number of them.

have you tried sporadic use of proviron? I know I have felt some surges of libido from it in the past, but it seems to not work for prolonged use, and there are sides for sure

Sonny, if you're really considering Nolvadex as sole TRT, have you looked into the possibility of eye toxicity or liver, for that matter? Even though I agree with Chap, that just about everything has side effects, Im sure you'll agree that there's a big qualitative difference between an artificial version of someting found in our bodies (testosterone) versus an artificial compound that has no place in our bodies [nolvadex] (although we certainly can use it to solve some problems). Im not even thinking in terms of months or a few years. Im wondering if you're considering it for life, as sole TRT.

Normandy:

You raise some valid concerns and I do need to address them. I get my liver values tested every 6 months and have not had any problems so far. As far as eye problems, I have been ok. I had an eye exam last year while on Nolva (40mg/day...twice what I'm taking now) and my doc noted that my eye pressures were at the high end of the spectrum. They were tested again earlier this year while not on Nolva and were in the middle of the range. So, there is an effect there, but it's not causing me any of the "tracers" that people often see with Clomid.

I am not sure what I am going to do long-term. I just haven't found anything that works as well as Nolva alone. It is a foreign substance as far as our bodies are concerned, but it leads to completely natural production of testosterone. This "body produced" testosterone seems to work better for me than any gel or cream, there is no testicular atrophy, and the convenience is hard to beat.

I know this post is old but I've had a lot of problems with TRT as well and Clomid for that matter. Are you still using Nolvadex as a primary form of TRT? Is it still working for you? I am thinking of asking my Dr to put me on Nolvadex long term because Clomid caused me to desensitize and gave me all sorts of emotional problems, anxiety, ED, insomnia, and a tingly sensation throughout my body. Any advice would be helpful.

hi i am new to this forum..im 24years old 191cm tall ectomorph body type,i have got 4 cycles in my history all with awful pcts due to bad judgment off starting steroids too young...i finished my last cycle neally 2months ago 750mg sustanon per week did a pct off nolvadex d 40mg for two weeks then 20mg two weeks..later had my bloods tested 3 weeks after on a scale from 10 to 38 i came in a 15 wich is rather low for my age but because im in the normal ranges i cant get treatment..i dont really want to self administrate trt injections tbh,so i came across a few threads on people using nolvadex so i have been taking nolvadex for the past 3 weeks and had my bloods tested yesterday and my level was 26 wich i was very impressed with....my question is if i keep taking the nolva to support my test levels will i still be able to build muscle, because i have heard from many people that nolva lowers igf 1....any help would be great:)

i want to use nolvadex longterm at a low dose but i have heard alot about nolvadex lowering igf......wont that stop you building muscle
