Abs and Proper Diet?

I do have some fat on my abs and i know you cannot target that fat but what is a proper diet to get abs? is it low calorie, high reps? high calorie high reps?

Im confused and interested to learn what the secret to getting the abs ive always wanted.

Could you guys give me a little insight and new ideas to try?
 
I have never had the abs that I wanted and I have been training for 10 years, but recently I have finally realised that my diet was the culprit the whole time. I have been on a low carb diet now for about a month and a half and its the first time I could see any muscles in my abdomin area. The results were surprisingly fast (with strict dedication to the diet) and considering my abs were in the worst shape of my life I have extremely happy with the results I have obtained so far.

I hope this helps some and BTW I eat around 1500 calories/lb of body weight (LBM)
