During brew of mast e, hotplate/stirrer malfunctioned and temp reached high for about 5mins. This happened during the last phase of stirring when everything was mixed together. The temp reached high enough to the point that vaporized gear was visible on the aluminum foil that covered the beaker. After removing the aluminum foil cover, I could see stream of vaporized gear components being sucked up by the high cfm range under which I brew. “Finished” gear at the end is within 1ml of sum of all the components.
Temp probably got to around 190degF as I could still touch the hotplate surface without burning my fingers but the beaker felt hotter than normal to hold in my hand.
@XmadXscientist , @Iron Vett , @bigrobbie , @Cakedup or anyone else: Do you guys think it is still usable? Otherwise, it is $80 lesson for me.
I could not any data on mast e boiling or burning temperature. But I don’t think it is anywhere close 200degF.
Yes, infrared thermometer is on the way. I normally don’t let the beaker get hot beyond temp that I cant hold the beaker in my bare hands.
BTW,it was mast e at 325mg/ml with BA/BB/MCT/MIG840/EO=2/18/40/40/20 which I used previously for pipless TestCyp at 250mg/ml.
Below is an example of setup I used.
