Advise about clomid treatment please.

Hi SWALE & Guys

I was hoping you could give some advise with my current clomid treatment.

Im one of the guys who got hormoneproblems after taking propecia for about 3 years. I was testet for Testosterone 3 times over 2 months which all came back low. My values was from 240 to 300 (ref. 240 - 860) and LH and FSH were both low (LH = 2 and FSH = 1.5). DHT was low too, and even estradiol was low.

My symptoms are, low energy, severe brain fog, no feeling of pleasure, lack of interest in things, no libido, and no enjoyment of sex.

After a MRI scan which showed nothing, I was put on clomid treatment to see if we could restart my HPTA. The initial plan was to take it for 2 months and hope it would raise my T values some. If it fails I will ask for TRT with weekly T injections and a little HCG as in SWALES protocol.

Currently I have been on clomid for almost 1 months. First week on 100 mg/day and rest of the time on 25 mg/day.

Bloodtest after 1 week: Total T=515 (240-860), LH=8,7, FSH=2,6

Bloodtest after 5 weeks: Total T=1008 (240-860), LH=11,3 FSH=4,1

As you can see I seem to respond pretty well to clomid, but my question are now if I should resume, discontinue, or resume on a lower dose ?

I havn't gotten much improvement in most of my symptoms, but I do have bigger balls, more energy, and more libido now.

The clomid certainly seems to be doing its job. Your tests show that you are responding well. I am not sure how long you need to be on clomid for so that the HPTA has enough encouragement to work on its own.. However i do know that tapering your dose slowly when you do decide to stop is very important.

How do you know it was the propecia that gave you low T levels?

Ofcourse I can't know 100% for sure. I guess it _could_ be idiopatic, but my symptoms started after year on propecia, just like many of the guys in the finasteridesideeffects yahoo group. I never had any problems before and have never taken anything else that could cause it.

Furthermore my hairloss has stoped even since stopping propecia, and my DHT has been measured to be very low, so Im pretty sure it has been high before I tried propecia.

Hey Legend:

I've been on clomid for about 8 weeks......
The first 7 weeks 25mg......since i've cut the dose to 12.5mg for 5 day.....and 6.25mg for another 5 days............i feel better

right now i'm on the 3rd day of the 6.25mg for 5 days......so i will be ending
the clomid treatment this saturday........

And i don't think i will use it again because it did mess with my vision (big time)........so i want to stay off of it and i will............i will take another test inm about a mounth........but to tell you the truth if i feel good i'm not going to take the test cause it fucks with your head.....if you are low then you feel like shit.......if its high you feel like a king.......so fuck it..........

but taper off for sure in 5 day increments.......just keep cutting it in half

When in the treatment did you start to feel better ?

I too have wiered visual sideeffects. Especially at night when going from dark to light. Did yours go away after tampering off ?

Did you suffer from brainfog too ?


ag-guys and SWALE, why is it that clomid therapy are that complex ?

Ain't it possible to figure out how long to stay on, and how much to take, just from the testresults ? If not, what would it take then ? Are there any studies or anything on the net I can read to learn more about it ?

And if there is any doubt when to stop, would it harm the treatment to stay on for too long ? (I don't mind the expence or sideeffects, I just want to give it a fair chance)

The reason I need anwsers, is because I live in Denmark and already have one of the best endo's here, but he's not very familiar with clomid treatment, and has never before delt with a sufferer from propecia sideeffects, so Im pretty much calling the shots myself.

I have desided to cut the dose down to one third pill (16,66 mg) a day. I figured that I better keep the T levels high, but in range. Afterall this is what I would like to teach my body to do by itself. I guess I'll take it for another month and then tamper off like dj75 sugested.

I'll give my experiences with Clomid. I started 2 months ago taking 50mgs. monday thru friday. My free T and serum T were at the upper limits.
The second month I took 25mgs. monday thru friday, and that brought my T and free T over the top of the range, and my E-2 went way up.
I am now taking clomid 25mgs. Mon/Wed/Fri, and Arimidex .5mg M/W/F, that will change next week to .25mg M/W/F. I'll be interested to see my labs at the end of the month.
I feel much better, no more brain fog, improved concentration, energy, my skin tone is better, my beard is growing in normal again, sense of well-being/confidence is better, sleep is better, my digestive system is running normal again (hard to explain), Libido is fine.
I've had no visual side effects, only an oily forehead.
Hopefully I can keep my HPTA stimulated with the lowest possible dose, and control estrogen. It's really crazy how differently we all react to medications.

ANTB, I know i have said this before on other posts,.. your E2 test would have been totally inaccurate while you were taking clomid.. you may in fact have no need to control estrogen if your feeling fine...
