Alex Rodriguez faced over 150 sports journalists Tuesday in a tent adjacent to Steinbrenner Field in Tampa to answer questions about his use of prohibited performance enhancing drugs. Rodriguez admitted using prohibited substances in an interview with Peter Gammons after Selena Roberts and David Epstein, journalists with Sports Illustrated, reported that A-Rod tested positive for testosterone and methenolone as part of Major League Baseball’s “non-disciplinary and anonymous” steroid testing in 2003. The press conference was presumably an effort by Rodriguez to provide full disclosure about his use of performance enhancing drugs. Alex Rodriguez crisis management team included his super-agent Scott Boras and media and image consultant Reed Dickens.
