Any fighters on board?

I heard that tae kwon do makes someone way tougher than those UFC guys.

Yeah, that armenian guy Kalo Parisian is my idol.....he's really great. Tae Kwon Do is real martial arts, not cheating, mixed martial arts as they call it.

[Drum roll....waiting for Grizz to explode]

Not when you're trying to assert that it has "less hollywood" and more functionality than a combat art that stresses covering up, slips, STRAIGHT punches(thrown from the chin WHERE THEY FUCKING BELONG), leg kicks, body kick and head kicks.

Let's see here, hmmmm..... Should I practice the ultra-effective method of a wide, square stance with my hands at my hips? Or, should I maybe cover my head an stand in a fashion as to promote manueverability? Damn, that's a tough one. A tough one indeed. :rolleyes
Being that your knowlege is so important to me in other threads...I'm gonna keep my freakin mouth shut! Wouldnt want to stick my foot in my mouth...For damn sure do not want your foot stuck in my mouth...lol

Might be able to get him to tap with a toe bite if the ref isnt looking :D

I find the "thumb up the butt" maneuver to be quite effective at times. ;)

I actually do like that Karisan fellow. He might claim a TKD background, but his judo is the important one. He's got some really good throws. I don't see him taking over the weight class or anything, but he's a pretty decent fighter.

Now, WRT TKD...:(

Don't worry about it. It should be interesting to see what you come up with. Let it fly, I want to hear it.

I'm not sure what the address is, but do a search for Fairtex. You don't get any better than that.

Thanks Grizz Just what i was looking for. My gym taxes us for wraps and pads. I just paid $80 for gloves, they want $40 for shorts.

Parisian is pretty slick and his grappling is what makes him good. If he just trainined a good striking art like ninjitsu he'd be fine
BWAAHAHHAHAHAAA

Grizz...are you a boxer? If so, as a boxer, is it easier to go into kickboxing than any other martial art? What's your favorite style?

No, I do MMA(Mixed Martial Arts...the UFC shit).

As a boxer I would assume that kickboxig would be the easiest/most effective form to transition into. A good boxer typically has much, much better hands than a kickboxer. So, all you would have to do is learn how to kick fairly well and your hand should be raised more often than not.

Kick are relatively easy to defend, plus, barrring a headkick, they don't cause that much damage. A good flurry of punches, on the other hand, will put a guy on his ass. Likewise, when a guy is inside, kicks are harder to pull off.

My favorite style is MMA. LOL If you want a pure form, then I like freestyle wrestling the best. Grecco is boring and folk style is too "safe" which eliminates a lot of the good throws and turns that you can see in a freestyle match.
