Anyone here transitioned to high reps after age 40?

The classic 6-8 reps, joints don’t handle it well anymore and I only do it with superslow negatives and positives and a moderate weight. But I’ve found that after 30+ years in the gym that I respond well to stupid high reps and that “you can’t grow from high reps” isn’t entirely true. For example, elbows don’t like db presses much over 100 lbs anymore, but I got 90’s for a set of 30 reps on incline DB press the other day. I did go to 105’s and hit a set of 18 reps after, but that was pretty much the pain threshold on weights used, whereas I used to use 125’s. The lower rep schemes work if my rep tempo is crazy slow but I just don’t do the classic 6-8 reps anymore (maybe on a deadlift but that’s abt it) Anyone else in this club?

i have switched to 12-15-20 rep sets with no complaints, i've even dropped the weight recently (due to injuries) and still get some decent sessions in, and in my early 50's my joints and "aches&pains" are getting more pronounced,, Bpc157/tb4 and some hgh are a constant in my rotation now,,

I’ve been a gym rat most of my life but only recently started looking at the science end of training, primarily due to joint issues and age. I was initially taught that anything above 15 reps was an aerobic exercise. Has the science changed, or more likely was I taught wrong?

Are higher reps good for maintaining strength/size or do they help build new muscle? The only time I would rep above 12 was during warmups or pyramid sets. I genuinely appreciate the feedback because I’m in the process of reevaluating how I approach my workouts. Thanks

Alot of factors go into lbm gains besides rep ranges,
