Seems like a pretty good movement to me.Considering how many different muscles are incorporated when you do it.Its almost extinct unfortunately.I almost never see anyone in the gym doing it.And i train in a supposedly "hardcore" gym.Who here does em on a regular basis?

There is actually one kid at my gym who does them. He's only about 17 and naturally a strong mother fucker. Other than that I never see them done.

I just switched from my old, conservative style gym to the local worlds gym which is a lot closer to me and has better hours. I've noticed there are a lot of big guys in there but they all lift the same. No one squats, no one deal lifts. All they do is bench press, shoulder press, arm curls, tricept pushdowns and hammer stregth machines.

welcome to the general masses workout routine... (be sure to thank Muscle and fitness)

I used to wonder what is wrong with these people but now I just think of it as well f--- them, the less they know the quicker i catch up to the juiced bastards.. ya know damn well they don't want to hear anything other than that what they're doing is right anyway so that's okay I'll take the upper hand.

I often wonder about the psychology of the BBing/gym world. It's one of the few places where it seems nearly everyone is not interested in learning - they simply want an echo and in a lot of cases you get the guys who want to force their opinions on others (the unsolicited training advice from morons anomaly). It's like a propoganda machine with what little science there is being drastically misapplied. With so much technical focus on drugs and diet you'd think there'd be some really hungy folk for training knowledge buying up some of the excellent texts out there, but that certainly isn't what one finds.

i completely agree. Guys at the gym who i know who are bigger than me assume that my training style is ass just because they're bigger and are always trying to push that supercompensation crap back on me. what they seem to forget is that they didn't get big from superior training knowledge, they were just good at getting their hands on some test. One guy who is always trying to tell me that the 5x5 i'm doing is a horrible routine is constantly going down to 170lbs in weight then juicing up to 190, stops juicing goes back down to 170, juices goes to 190, then the cycle just keeps going, i've seen him doing it 5 or 6 times already, yet he still doesn't realize that the only thing he's learned over the years is how to stick a pin, and has no real knowledge on how to train. (if he knew anything else he wouldn't lose all his gains every time).

Since he seems to believe that size and knowledge are directly proportional, inform him that the person who you got the 5x5 from is 350 pounds of muscle, has benched 500 raw in competition, with a 3 second pause on the chest, has squatted 900 pounds, and can do stiff legged deadlifts with 700 for reps.

Then tell him that all of those feats were accomplished without juice.

I think he'll shut the fuck up.

haha. yeah but everything i say to this dude his response is always "but pound for pound i'm the strongest guy in this gym" and for some reason he thinks this always most important but he quickly changes the subject the moment i mention a deadlift.

Tell him braincell for braincell he's also the most retarded.

If u look at it from a selfish point of view its a good thing.Because if they train like that they will remain smaller than you. That way they will stay far behind.

This post describes so many people I know, that its sickening. Guys have been doing the same routine for years. They juice and get bigger, then it goes away, then they juice again and it comes back.

I came over to worlds to work out with a couple of these guys because I didn't want to work out by myself anymore. Funny thing is: I still workout by myself because these guy's routines are for babies. Then they have to balls to laugh at me for squatting 3x a week and doing standing millitary presses? I guess the joke is really on them. In my mind they are a bunch of pussies because the only reason they don't do squats and rows is because its easier to do curls and pushdowns. So, which one of us is really the pussy?

That describes every single body builder i have met, bar none.

I have NEVER EVER met anyone with the training knowledge of the guys on this forum.

THE REASON WHY PEOPLE IGNORE TRAINING?!?!

Because using drugs is much much much easier. You can learn enough about steroids in 5 minutes to put on 20 pounds of muscle in 8 weeks.

These same guys then progress to 220 pounds by simply using MORE gear MORE of the time.

They dont learn anything more about training as the muscle is built by massive amounts of drugs.

It's also why i as well as the rest of the public disrespects body builders in general as steroid pumping morons. BECAUSE THE MAJORITY ARE!!!

There's a new kid here at work. For the last two months he has been nipping at my heels and humping my leg asking me to give him a program to make him big. I knew good goddamn well that he doesn't have what it takes. I knew it! So, I always said, "yeah, yeah, yeah, sure one day we'll sit down and talk or something."

He kept asking, so, about 3 weeks ago, I gave in. Instead of wasting my valuable time explaining shit that would go in one ear and out the other, I just printed the 5X5 program and instructions. He hasn't done a damn thing! There's no way he has been on it for the last 3 weeks because he hasn't asked me a single question and he sure doesn't look sore at all.

I don't remember when I stopped paying attention to people in the gym. I'm nice, friendly, considerate, invite others to work in if they are waiting, and work in with others to facilitate my own training but I'm there for myself. Nothing surprises me. I worked out at a gym that was frequented by pro BBers, I've met a few of them, worked closely with a guy who got his pro card and went on to a successful career. Those guys don't know shit (I'm sure there's an exception somewhere but 95%). I've seen them train many times (overkill - it only takes a minute to know someone has no clue), I've talked to them about their training at length - I wouldn't use their programs on a teenage novice and expect him to grow. If it wasn't for their drugs, they'd be just another skinny dude in the gym making no progress, which is likely how they came to drugs in the first place.

All these guys spend a ton of time learning about steroids and diet which are for the most part the response side of the equation. The most important side is the stimulus side which is training. I mean, people research drugs like mad but is anyone reading the better training books out there? No. Oral turinabol becomes available again and you start seeing all kinds of info show up. Dual factor programs - what's that? You talk about basic training protocol that's accepted worldwide and they've never heard it before - not even the more cerebral ones. It's like BBing has been spreading bullshit (no steroids, the weider dynamic nut grab principle) in an effort to market itself for so long that they've insulated themselves and become like a cult in denial.

I don't get it - I'll never get it. I only hope that enough good programs reach the kids who are looking to make progress. Most people that come to BBing have modest wants at first and get frustrated without progress and turn to drugs. If they have an understanding and a methodology that works, less will feel they have to use drugs to make some basic gains.
