was wonderin if swale or someone in the med field can answer this for me

i understand what they are and how exercise and good cholesterole
helps to combat the build-up of them

my question is . once they are deposited are they there forever
or will clean diet and exercise clean up the arteries ?

I don't believe that there is any significant you can do with those methods, but I will defer to some one elses judgement.

It is not a static, but rather a dynamic situation. Plaque is constantly being deposited, and also simulataneously removed, from the lining of the cardiovascular system. But this does not mean you can cheat now as long as you are good later. Plaque depostion is much easier to acomplish than reverse cholesterol transport!

Fish oil is God's gift to our health. I recommend it to everyone. However, be careful of the kind you buy, as it is difficult to protect yourself from toxins which come along with it. It is probably best to stay away from the liver oils.

I do not think anyone is going to take 1g/10lbs bodyweight.

Some think that if you got 10 grams per day. you would have vitually no risk of cardiovascular disease.

I've read that PCB's, and other toxins, are found in the liver oils, due to the fact they are concentrated in the liver.

What a coincidence! I personally use Carlson's "The very Finest" Fish Oil, and recommend it to my patients.

In fact, in the new AllThingsMale Health Center I am currently setting up, I will be offering this very product (along with the other supplements I recommend) in my little store there (so my guys can take advantage of my professional discount).

I have a letter from their lab director which claims "ND" (non-detectable) levels for all toxins assayed in their cod liver oil. I'm still not comfotable with the concept, especially when their other fish oil does not present such a risk.

If anyone takes the amount of Omega-3's you recommend from a cod liver oil source, they risk toxicity from the subsequent intake of these vitamins.

You wouldn't have toxic effects in such a short period of time. It's a matter of accumulation.

I do not know what research you are talking about, but fat-soluble vitamins accumulate to toxic levels.

You will note that Dr. Mercola recommends no more than one or two teaspoons of CLO per day, due to the risk of vitamin toxicity. This will not bring you the Omega-3's you want.

"You imagine" is not sufficient cause to recommend the Members of this Board poison themselves.

You write in a very intelligent manner that will convince many to follow what you say, even when you intend it as a question.

In fact, athletes do not need to super-supplement these particular vitamins, as they are also susceptible to increased athersclerosis, brain pseudotumors, etc.

Thank you for your participation and input.

To the best of my knowledge, Omega-6/Omega-3 should be no more 2:1. That is easy to remember, because 6 is twice as much as three.

The problem is, today's average diet has the ratio at 5 or 6 to one. this is HIGHLY inflammatory.

Let's be clear about this: CLO is NOT the best. Toxins are filtered from the bloodstream, and therefore concentrated in the liver. I have read of different companies claiming to test PCB's, for instance (there are quite a few of them), but not testing for all of them. Use a good straight fish oil instead.

Flax does have other nutritinal value, but it produces only 10% or less of the Omega-3's that fish oil does. That is because the body must assemble Omega-3's from the constituents of fish oil, while they are already present in fish oil. It is difficult for the body to make larger molecules.

Gottcha, I just reread all of the posts. What does the Omega 6: Omega 3 protocol look like and from what sources would be ideal?

yeah ive always taken twice as many omega 3's to omega 6. i take my omega 6 in the form of evening primrose oil. all my bloods always come back great so far

Well done, Frosty.

I'd just like to add that farm-raised fish has been shown to be absolutely loaded with toxins.
