Aspirate

I have a big question about Aspiration. A lot of the sites I inject can only really be done with one hand. I pull back on the syringe (which is difficult), and try pretty hard. So far I haven't gotten any blood, but I barely ever get air. I think the pressure is a little to much. I heard that if you are in a vein, then you don't have to pull back to far to have the blood come into the needle. Is this right? Thanks for the help.

When I pull back there is some air that comes in, but it goes right back out as soon as I stop pulling on it.

If you hit a vein it doesn't take a lot to pull the blood into the syringe. As long as you're getting some air in there w/out blood, you're fine.

If you hit a vien you'll know immediately. A slight pull will send blood rushing in. Sometimes you can pass through a vien. In this case, you aspirate, get no blood, shoot, and when you pull the needle out, a nice little geyser of blood shoots out. :p It's actually a little entertaining.
