[SIZE=-1]Two country NSW police officers have been charged with supplying steroids and "hillbilly heroin", as well as for forging a doctor's prescription.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The male and female senior constables attached to a local area command in the Tamworth region were arrested about 9.30am today, police said.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]The male officer was charged with supplying and possessing steroids and supplying the prohibited drug Oxycontin.[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]Oxycontin is a version of Oxycodone - a morphine-based medication prescribed to people suffering cancer or other debilitating conditions. The painkiller has been dubbed "hillbilly heroin"[/SIZE]

[SIZE=-1]He also was charged with unauthorised possession of ammunition and forging or altering a prescription.[/SIZE]

Two NSW police officers have been charged in relation to the alleged possession and supply of drugs.

As a result of extensive inquiries into the alleged supply of steroids and the prohibited drug Oxycontin, a man and woman were arrested at 9:30am today.

The Senior Constables, attached to a Local Area Command in the Western Region, were arrested after attending Tamworth Police Station.

The male officer was charged with supply of steroids, two counts of possession of steroids, unauthorised possession of ammunition, forge or alter prescription and two counts of supply of prohibited drug.

The female officer was charged with two counts of possession of steroids and one count of forge or alter (aid and abet) prescription.

Both were conditionally bailed to appear at Armidale Local Court on 4 February 2009.
