Ba and Bb usp ?

Hi benzyl alcohol/BB does it have to be USP?
Could some of you imagine some of the two being illegal to import ?
It could be a bit harder to get in my area but i found some of both 99% bot not USP ?

Benzyl alcohol
Aromatic alcohol that occurs naturally in eg. strawberries and essential oils. Benzyl alcohol degrades or inhibits the growth of a wide range of bacteria, yeast and mushrooms and can be used for the preservation of all aqueous products. Applies in the final phase (at room temperature).

Dosage:
0.5% in products with sulphate, pearl sulphate, supersulphate and emulsifiers.
1% in products emulsified with vegetable, lanolin and MF fat / VE fat

See how Sodium Benzoate / Paraben / Benzoin Tincture is replaced by benzyl alcohol in existing recipes.

Benzyl alcohol is on the list of the 26 declarable fragrances.

NOTE: Utensils are rinsed in cold water before washing. Materials that come into contact with benzyl alcohol must not be iron or aluminum.

I don't know the answer to your question exactly, but I would imagine non usp grade would be fine since you are filtering after mixing. Wait for others to reply before mixing and follow the general consensus.

They will work, and others use them, but you really should be using sterile filters.

Is fine. Just make sure it’s a really high concentration and it doesn’t have any other chemicals in it.
