Barbell Shrugs

I used to do them with DB's. I thought it worked better after having tried both varieties. However, IMO, if you really want to get big traps, then do deadlifts and cleans. Those will make your traps bigger than anything. And, as an added bonus, they will work the entire rest of your body, too. Two birds with one stone....

cool post, i coudnt live without my deadlifts, i love them because theyve helped my whole body grow, but love doing them even more in the gym because everyone looks at me thinking: "WTF is this moron doin with that dam bar?"

lol i have no choice bro, i do leg days with a competitor who runs the gym every wednsday inc big squats and supersets, if im not on the floor dead at the end of the session, ive not worked with him ;).

ive learnt what pain is since training with him, i remember he said when i couldnt get up after one big lifting leg day i done, he pulled he off the floor and said "there you go, youve made your choice now, your not joking anymore, your a bodybuilder now and it dosnt get any easier mate".
 
Did Dumbbells again yesterday. The diamond bar looks a little tight and I didn't want to rack it up with a bunch of plates and not be able to get in it with a gym full of people [:o)]
 
Finally got to do these today! It was a little bit of a pain in the ass once you get over 2 plates on the power rack but was able to get 350 lbs for a full 10 reps. Felt great, concentrated right on the trap, did I say it felt great!!
 
Wow, woke up and stretched and my traps feel freakishly huge. Getting big pumps out of them just sitting here. :D
 
i put 400 lbs on an olympic straight bar and do not use straps because i like the forearm workout as well. i do 5 sets of 30. and you know what my soultion to the hitting the nuts problem is? seriously, i wear a jock strap cup on shoulder shrug days. it tightens your balls and dick against your body which decreases the blows to the nuts and if you do strike yourself youre protected.
 
If your gym has a hammer strength behind neck press load it up and stand on the seat with your butt against the back pad.......2-3 sets of any rep range will do the trick for high traps
