basic sterile oil question...

I am doing research of how to homebrew.

I get all the BA,BB, Oil, and powder I need, and mix in a beaker. Does the beaker have to be sterile? Is washing the beaker with soap, water and alcohol enough, then let dry?

My understanding is I mix the ingredients in a beaker. I run the unsterile oil through a .22 micron filter however I please. The oil is now sterile, but it would have to be kept in a sterile vial. I would just buy a capped sterile vial already in the beggining until I figure out how to sterilize the vials properly.

Now no matter how unsterile the oil is, does the .22 micron filter completely sterilze the finished product?

.22 will filter the oil adequately for IM use.

It's recommended that you sterilize everything used, but for personal homebrew you don't need to sterilize the mixing beaker if you don't want to, just make sure it's really clean like you stated. If you can, use a product call Alconx to clean the beakers besides soap.

You can get sterile vials and use a syringe filter, that is correct.

A note on the filters, .22 micron is the standard. But a .22micron does not sterilize your finished product completely. There are bacteria and viruses that are smaller than .22 micron and therefore they can potentially get through the filter if they were in the raw or beaker. The point of the filter is to REDUCE the risk of infection as much as you can but the chance is always there. That's why you want to clean and hopefully sterilize everything before the filter, the less bacteria, viruses, and contaminants there are before the filter, the less there is for the filter to try and trap.

There are no guarantees in this so being as clean as you can before and after the filter is your best bet.

Is the MCT from Med lab good to use? Its not cold pressed but is pharma grade. Or should I use GSO?

There's no point in buying sterile oil as it will become unsterile again when raws, BA, BB are added.

The beaker doesn't have to be sterile but it has to be clean. Better if it's a new beaker, only used for brewing gear and not for mixing other chemicals.

0.22 doesn't get rid of viruses, or oil soluble impurities.
So it's wise to soak raws in 70% alcohol and allow it to evaporate to kill any eventual viruses.
It's so cheap and easy so why ignore it?
Can HIV and other viruses pass trough 0.22 um filters?

Those viruses and bacteria you quote although real aren't very common. There are so many what if's that have to take place for that to happen. Yes, people need to take steps to avoid cross contamination and starting with clean glassware is a step, but you need to have these random diseases in your home to begin with. Staph, celulitus, E coli, strep, etc. are much more likely to be found in your house and in your "lab"
