Bench shirt to help shoulder pain?

I have AC tendonitus in my right shoulder. I've had 4 injections of Depo-Medrol which stops the pain for around 6-8 wks, but it keeps coming back. I was wondering if I just bought a basic bench shirt like the Inzer Blast, or the HD blast if you think that would help take the pressure off my shoulder allowing it to heal? It would basically be my workout shirt. I would eventually get a different shirt for meets, and the basic shirt would be for shoulder rehab only.
Also, since this would be for shoulder rehab, do I still need it to be really tight. Or would you recommend going a size bigger. (If I wear a size 56 shirt, go with a 58)?

If I do that, should I wear the shirt for both ME and DE bench days? Wear it for ME and Speed work only and take if off when doing accessory and supplemental? How should I do this?

Thanks

You might try a standard blast shirt by Inzer.... they are fairly cheap.. (like less than $45 IIRC).

How often are you doing banded work? I'm not sure if the shirt will take that much pressure off of your shoulder..but I certainly don't see where it would hurt you (as long as you don't try to go too heavy too soon with it)

How low are you taking the bar on your body when you lower it? Is it touching your belly? Diaphram? Lower pecs?

Thanks Phreez,

I'm not doing any banded work at all. I've only been doing WSB training for @ 9wks now. For ME days, I do heavy work to train the bench, (Flr Prs, 4 brd, ect.), then on DE days I do speed work with just regular bench at 50% of my 1RM.

I bring the bar down to just below my pecs, (I guess that's my diaphram?) on all bench, or at least I try to.

Any comments on my other questions? How often should I wear the shirt? Like every workout, (Both ME and DE days?) And what about the size? Over at Inzer Advance Designs, I'm sized at a 56 for the shirt. Would you suggest I go with the 58 or stay at a 56?

Thanks again,

1. I would wear the shirt for you ME days only

2. I would leave it at a 56..It's a poly it will stretch a little as you grow into it.. better your shirt be a little too tight than too lose.

Is it just tendonitis? If so let me recommend some horse linemant to you...AM turned me onto this stuff last year..and I have to say it works great!!!

This may sound strange, but AC tendonitus isn't tendonitus at all. The Acromioclavicular Joint, (AC joint) is really a ligament, but for some reason it is called ac tendonitus. Needless to say, the joint is relatively small, and therefor hard to work with when it comes to rehab. I've gone to PT and got no results, so my best options are the shots, which are temporary and surgury, where they actually remove a portion of the bone.

Not sure your interested, but here is a link describing the AC joint and it's functions.

Thanks for the link, I'll look into that horse linament.
