Bench Shoulder Problem

I'm increasing my bench weight and a problem has come up with my shoulders. Deep in the bench I get a feeling like something in my shoulders is going to pop, but at the mid and top of the bench movement everything is fine. Why is this happening? Lol. This isn't a problem at more tolerable bench weights....is there something I can do to strengthen my shoulders to keep upping my bench weight?
Thanks.

rotators, delts, and flexibility. Also, I would switch to dumbells or incline for awhile. Make sure your back is not lagging wrt rows. Listen to your body and that popping sensation. You run a high risk of serious injury

you better do rotator work or your gonna have trouble trust me. Thick gave some good advise about the DB's.......11

Yea, bump what Thiack said, and also, pain in the bench is one of the first signs a shoulder injury is headed your way. Don't let it get you bro! Streching is very under-rated, but REALLY keeps your shoulders healthy...just do it.

Try doin military press to work your shoulders and your rotator cuffs and if you want do power press.
Actually, I can't do military press at all anymore because of my shoulders. Working with DBs is always fine though. It's weird how certain things will aggrevate it but others won't. Like I can do a ton of pushups with no shoulder problems but military is a killer.

Get yourself to an Orthopedic MD one that works with athletes and have it checked out. You can't work through it. I went through rotator cuff surgery in Feb.
It started out like yours. If you have professional sports were you live find out who they use. They are the most experienced.

Damn bro, you hadn't mentioned the military press thing when you first posted. Your in deep shit if you keep going the way you are now. Forget the stretching, it will play a part but you need to see a trainer who has experience helping lifters, athletes, etc recover from injuries or the onset of an injury and the latter is where you are now. See a medical doc as a last choice alternative...surgery should not even be considered now.
That's what I do for aliving. Help athletes, etc. heal injuries or the onset using weight training , stretching, myofacial release, etc. More than likely it is possible to correct your situation without surgery. But I certainly can't tell from here.
Look around your area for someone with lots of experience, then get refernces of past and present clients, thoroughly check him/her out BEFORE letting them lay a hand on you. There are alot of terrible ones out there that may hurt you worse

i have only one question 4 u...do u ever do warm up sets ? u msut i repeat u must do warm up sets for every exercise that u do . lets use an example here ok lets say a guy can barbell curl 80lbs.6 reps well too warm up he'll start with say 30lbs.for 12 reps with no rest he would do 50 lbs. another 12 reps ,then he does 70 lb.say 10 reps theres three good warmu ups i warm up every exersice anjd so does every professinal body builder most of the time u see a body building magazine and a guy says he does 6 sets of barbell benches or 6 sets of curls most are warm ups the last 2 or so is actuall sets 2 failure ..read the latest issue of muscle and fitness tripple h does warm up sets for every exercise he does he does only one set 2 actuall failure ..but u can do many as needed for ur own body type..heres simthun i thought id reply 2 u in case u didnt warm up .. im sure if u read alotta body building magazines about how a certain body builder was doing chest and riped the muscles in his chest ..or guy jumping into heavy weighted triceps dips ..but if u do warm up good and u still have pain why dont u try some pre fatuiging .. examples start with pec decks or flys this will decrease ur weight on the bench but will fatuge the muscles and make them work harder and will give u a tremendous pump...and ill say this if u arent getting a strong burning pump every workout u need 2 warm up more or change workout schedules and add some fresh workouts in doing the same workouts for months at a time will cause staleness and will only add 2 the negative side of hurting ur body...good lick with ur workouts !!!

Listen to the dude man, seriously. I didn't pay attention, kept pushing, and it cost me a year of recovery, 6 months before I could go heavy again.

Hey, this too, my problem came up from always going heavy, maybe you can lighten up for a while... My deal was doing doubles and triples a lot cause I grew the most with them. It wore on me after 7 months or so, and my shoulder gave out.

Now I never go below 6 reps, and I'm fine. IF your problem was similar to mine, you can start a cycle, 6 weeks of 10-12 reps, add weight, down to 8-10 reps fo 6 weeks, then 6's and 8's (I do 3 sets at the higher weight, drop weight and do 3 sets of 8's. 6 good working sets, twice in 9 days, and I grow).

Hope your shoulder gets better man... It helped me to take glucosomine/chondroiten (sp) too... helps joint lubrication and integrity, though the problem here is likely supportive muscles, so doing rotator cuff stuff 'seemed' to help me too. I just did all of that together and it worked for me, so I really don't know what helped the most.
