I’ve found Cake Wallet to be pretty good so far. But I don’t know much about OnRamper and if funds are put on hold for an eternity like Coinbase and other trash apps if I use it to buy btc direct (from a bank say) before converting. Can anybody school me here? TY

I think Exodus can do it as well.

Cash app/coinbase ->Exodus -> Convert
I’ll check out exodus. Cake wallet was a cheap conversion. I’ve gotta get away from Coinbase. They put a buy restriction on me. Removed when I asked why and said security reasons. See ya. Monero only way to go I feel now

Cashapp doesn't give a shit. But exodus can be used for sending. Idk if cake is KYC.(know your client)

If someone wanted to isolate their Bitcoin from their name. It would be ideal to create an exodus account that doesn't touch any account that is associated with their real name.

Hypothetically anyone who was received BTC and used it for buying/selling products. That would be an ideal option

No cake is clean with the KYC stuff. Exodus Platform is clean too. I like the interface. Once converted to xmr it’s my understanding that any form of identity or trace is a wrap. I did it for the first time the other day and the blockchain on the conversion was weird. Cheap too. Thanks for the recommendation bro.

Binance really gonna delist xmr? How has Binance even survived up to this point? Amazing.

And I’ll say this: Spot Bitcoin ETFs?. It’s marketing, like ESG funds. Just more and more regulation defeating the entire purpose of having crypto - Anonymity and decentralization. Some of these ETFs expense ratios are only like 19bps. I think they allowed the ETFs to happen for more control, and to help avoid the Sam bankman Fried’s. Now grandma can buy it from blackrock. Crypto’s gonna be marketed hard as “alternative assets” like gold, or real estate, for investing purposes to the average Joe, but no one knows. Crypto will def linger for a while but its exit could be abrupt. No one who is “long” on crypto ever wants to discuss regulation of exchanges, which is necessary.

Sorry, that was a cringe rant about crypto, I’ve just been reading too much about it lately. Modvigil still on board i guess.

So is BTC -> XMR on Cake wallet really enough?

Or do you need to send to a monero wallet unlinked to you?

thanks for the topic, i've been wondering a lot about this

Well not quite, as CashApp does ban if they detect unusual bitcoin activity or if you send to flagged wallets so it's best to only send to wallets YOU control such as the exodus wallet.

I think “best practices” change every day. I just think it such a waste of mine and everyone’s tax resources to go after guys like us. Just want a little NPP and sust wtf. I’ve been using exodus since spaceman spiff mentioned it. It’s easy. I don’t think you need the separate wallet after the swap. Exodus does a private swap somehow, and cake makes you create separate wallets to accept the monero anyway, so your potential problem is solved, I believe. Plus there’s not any Know your client protocol on these apps.

There's this also, but i haven't been able to get it work.

Theoretically you could send from cashapp to a private monero wallet with this swap and only be out around 4% purchase fee + exchange

The suspicious activity cashapp bans are incoming payments and cash outs.

Yes that's true but there's also been reports of people getting banned from CashApp for sending directly to flagged wallets much like Coinbase does.
